Kasetsart University Welcomes French Delegation under the 2026 Thailand–France International Collaboration Symposium

On Friday, 15 May 2026, from 14:00 to 16:30 hrs., at the Kamphol Adulavidhaya Conference Room, on the 2nd floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University warmly welcomed a delegation from higher education institutions and organizations of the French Republic.

The visit formed part of the “2026 Thailand–France International Collaboration: Franco-Thai Symposium on Higher Education, Research and Innovation,” held during 14–15 May 2026 in Bangkok, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation between Thailand and France.

The delegation was led by Dr. Ludovic ANDRES, Attaché for Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation, Embassy of France in Thailand, and included representatives from leading French organizations and institutions such as ECAM LaSalle, CIRAD, IRD, CNRS, France Universités, the University of Montpellier, and the University of Brest, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT).

On this occasion, Dr. Damrong Sripraram, Acting President of Kasetsart University, delivered a welcome address highlighting the significance of the 170th Anniversary of Thailand–France diplomatic relations, reflecting the longstanding friendship and academic cooperation between the two countries. He also emphasized Kasetsart University’s longstanding collaborations with French institutions across various fields, including agriculture, food research, medicine, engineering, and innovation, while expressing hope that the visit would lead to new academic partnerships and future collaborative opportunities.

Following the welcome remarks, Dr. Ludovic ANDRES, Attaché for Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation, Embassy of France in Thailand, delivered a response address reflecting the strong academic ties between Thailand and France. The session concluded with a token of appreciation ceremony and a group photograph with representatives from the Embassy of France in Thailand, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and Kasetsart University executives.

Following the welcoming session, the programme continued with the Presentation Session, during which an overview of Kasetsart University, including its relationships and collaborations with French higher education institutions, was presented by Assistant Professor Dr.rer.soc. Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs. The presentation reflected the shared commitment to strengthening academic and research cooperation between the two countries.

The programme also featured academic and research presentations from various faculties and institutes within the university, including a video presentation of the Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFRPD), an introduction to the Faculty of Medicine by Assistant Professor Dr. Anamika Kritiyakan, Acting Head of the Department of Microbiology, an introduction to the Faculty of Engineering by Associate Professor Dr. Suchat Leungprasert, Vice Dean for Administration, and an introduction to the DORAS Center by Associate Professor Dr. Sopon Uraichuen, Director of the DORAS Center.

From 15:00 to 16:20 hrs., the delegation participated in concurrent site visits, including a visit to the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Technology of Natural Rubber (LBTNR) and a visit to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, to observe the university’s research facilities, academic capabilities, and innovation infrastructure.

The visit and related activities represented another important milestone in further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Kasetsart University and French higher education institutions, fostering future collaboration in education, research, and innovation for sustainable mutual advancement.

Kasetsart University Participates in “2026 Thailand–France International Collaboration” to Strengthen Thai–French Cooperation in Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.

On 14 May 2026, at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok, Dr. Damrong Sripraram, Acting President of Kasetsart University, led a delegation of university executives and representatives to participate in the “2026 Thailand–France International Collaboration: Franco-Thai Symposium on Higher Education, Research and Innovation.” The event was jointly organized by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and the Embassy of France in Thailand, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between Thailand and France in higher education, science, research, and innovation.

The event featured the signing ceremony of a Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of the French Republic on cooperation in higher education, science, research, and innovation. The declaration aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two countries based on equality, mutual benefit, and sustainable development.

The symposium also served as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences in higher education and research, while fostering opportunities for collaboration among universities, research institutions, and partner organizations from both Thailand and France. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of both countries to advancing international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

On this occasion, Dr. Damrong Sripraram, Acting President of Kasetsart University, participated in the signing ceremony of five academic cooperation agreements, comprising:
• KU – CIRAD: Memorandum of Understanding Maintaining the Regional Network on Management of Epidemiological Emerging Risk in Southeast Asia (GREASE)
• KU – ECAM LaSalle: Memorandum of Understanding on Supporting French Recognition (CTI) for the Master of Engineering Program
• KU – ECAM LaSalle: Memorandum of Agreement on Joint Creation of a Climate Solutions Institute
• KU – ECAM LaSalle – HCM-UTE: Tri-Collaboration General Agreement
• KU – CIRAD: Specific Memorandum of Understanding Renewing the Hevea Research Platform in Partnership (HRPP) in Thailand

These collaborations reflect Kasetsart University’s commitment to advancing internationalization and continuously strengthening partnerships with leading international higher education institutions. The agreements also reinforce the University’s ongoing efforts in education, research, and innovation to jointly create knowledge and foster sustainable development at both the national and global levels.

welcomed medical executives from the Embassy of France in Bangkok, namely,

At the beginning of the session, representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences briefly introduced their respective faculties. The Faculty of Nursing currently has 63 students, while the Faculty of Pharmacy—whose curriculum has been accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Thailand in 2026—focuses on Agro-Pharmacy, emphasizing innovations derived from herbs and agricultural products. The first cohort of 24 students is scheduled to begin their studies in June 2026.

Kasetsart University places strong emphasis on the One Health approach, which integrates human health, animal health, and environmental health to support sustainable development. This concept has been widely recognized by international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).

Before concluding the discussion, Benjamin BECHAZ remarked that although the health-related faculties at Kasetsart University are relatively new compared to others, the university is considered one of the top institutions in Thailand. The Embassy of France also offered to act as a coordinator in facilitating connections with hospitals in France and its partner institutions across Southeast Asia.
