Thailand Space Expo 2025: Gateway to Space, and the Nation's Largest Space Event
The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) is preparing to host "Thailand Space Expo 2025," the most significant exhibition dedicated to space technology and geo-informatics in Thailand. The event is scheduled for October 16-18, 2025, at ICONSIAM in Bangkok. This exposition will offer a prime opportunity for attendees to explore the potential and business prospects within the rapidly advancing space industry and to experience firsthand how space technology is more integral to our daily lives than commonly perceived.
Currently, space technology has become a fundamental component of daily life for a vast number of people, evident through the utilization of various technologies such as navigation systems, weather forecasting, and high-speed internet—all of which benefit from satellite data. This field also encompasses the exciting future of renewed lunar exploration, missions to Mars, and other ambitious objectives within our solar system.
GISTDA, operating under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), recognizes the significant opportunities inherent in leveraging space technology. This year's Thailand Space Expo aims to elevate and build upon the successful foundation of Thailand Space Week, held over the past three years. It will provide a platform for government agencies, the private sector, and interested members of the public to participate in an international-level space technology event, designed to stimulate awareness, foster inspiration, and cultivate business collaborations to propel Thailand's space industry forward.
Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, Executive Director of GISTDA, stated, "This year, we are dedicated to organizing the Thailand Space Expo to showcase advancements in space and geo-information technologies. This will be achieved through seminars, visionary discussions, idea exchanges, and expert panels featuring academics, specialists, and executives from the global space technology sector, complemented by comprehensive exhibitions."
He continued, "Our intention is for attendees to gain a clear understanding of how space generates economic activity and new business ventures, and how individuals can engage with space-related opportunities. Therefore, we aim to present the future potential of space technology. GISTDA has already initiated contact with business entities from various countries, including the United States, China, and India, inviting their participation in Thailand Space Expo 2025."
As Thailand's leading space technology agency, GISTDA utilizes a diverse range of space technologies. These applications include data-driven agricultural planning, monitoring PM2.5 air quality levels, and verifying carbon credits through satellite data. The agency is also actively involved in indigenous research and development of space technologies, such as the THEOS-2A and THEOS-3 Earth observation satellites, a space traffic management system, a space object tracking and surveillance system, and Thailand's space weather forecasting system. Furthermore, GISTDA is committed to human capital development through initiatives like the 'School Satellite' project, which offers Thai youth hands-on experience in assembling and testing real satellites. These activities, integral to the global space industry, will be areas that attendees can learn about and observe.
This year's expo will convene industry leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, space agencies, and space enthusiasts. The event will facilitate the exchange of information on the latest advancements in space technology development, space exploration, and the application of space-derived data across various sectors. It will also serve as a vital platform to highlight emerging technologies, promote collaboration, showcase the capabilities of the space industry, and drive new business opportunities within the global space ecosystem. This includes a focus on advanced innovations, artificial intelligence, and their practical applications for maximum terrestrial benefit.
Dr. Pakorn further added, "Thailand Space Expo 2025 offers a unique opportunity for young people, including recent graduates seeking careers in the space sector, to connect with organizations and professionals actively working in the field. They can engage in discussions with personnel, potential business partners, and companies from both Thailand and international markets. This will, in turn, stimulate new employment opportunities within the economy and contribute to the nation's progress through the space industry."
Compared to premier global space events such as the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which gathers experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from the worldwide space industry, Thailand Space Expo aims to serve as a key regional platform for Southeast Asia. It will bring international personnel to Thailand, offering an excellent opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange with leading figures in the space community without the need for international travel.
Interested parties are invited to attend Thailand Space Expo 2025 from October 16-18, 2025, on the 7th floor of the ICONSIAM complex in Bangkok. The event will feature exhibition booths from diverse public and private sector space technology organizations, alongside engaging seminars and various other activities. Further details can be found on GISTDA’s official page and other online channels.
