Ending our trip with a hands-on experience in the paddy fields! 🌾🐟 University of Liverpool students got a true taste of local life through parabolic rice planting (ดำนาโยน), catching fresh fish, and enjoying a delicious grilled fish BBQ!

Beyond public health, our Lawa Model Plus project has been driving community-based research and innovation for 2 years to uplift local farmers' income and economic well-being. A fantastic, high-energy finish to an unforgettable trip! 🚜🔥

An unforgettable experience! We, TropMed-TDRC and UoL students, want to express our sincere gratitude to the fishermen and VHVs at Kaeng Lawa for their warm hospitality. It was amazing to learn about local food culture through the 'Koi Pla' demonstration and to meet such lovely community members. Thank you for welcoming us and sharing this valuable experience.

🎣 From stream to screen-worthy demo! University of Liverpool students learned about the entire life cycle of a public health challenge. After catching fish at Lawa Wetland, they witnessed villagers demonstrate the risky, traditional 'Red ants' sourness trick for raw 'Koi Pla' fish salad. To emphasize disease prevention, we showed them the real solution: grilling the dish to ensure a delicious and liver fluke-free meal. 🍽️

Exploring Lawa Village on foot! 🚶‍♂️☀️ Our visiting students from the University of Liverpool took a walk through the local community, getting a firsthand look at everyday life, village homes, and local culture. Quite a unique change of scenery from home in the UK! Exploring the community up close helps our students better understand the environment and lifestyle linked to our health research.
