KKU Expands Global Academic Partnership with Asia University in Taiwan

On May 11, 2026, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Kanchana Sethanan, Chair of the Program in Industrial Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panitad Sureeyatanapas, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and International Relations; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kritsanarach Nitisiri, Assistant Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, visited Asia University, one of Taiwan’s leading private universities, to discuss academic collaboration with the university’s senior executives.
The KKU delegation received a warm welcome from Prof. Jeffrey J.P. Tsai, President of Asia University, together with the university’s executive team, including Prof. Ming-Lang Tseng, Chair Professor, as well as deans and administrators from various faculties.
During the meeting, both universities exchanged institutional information and presented their academic strengths while discussing future collaboration in education and research. The discussion aimed to strengthen international academic networks and expand collaboration across multiple disciplines. A souvenir exchange ceremony was also held to further enhance the strong relationship between the two institutions.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the discussion on establishing a future Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a Double Degree master’s program in a “1+1” format, allowing students to study one year at Khon Kaen University and one year in Taiwan, and graduate with two degrees:
• Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering (MEng) from Khon Kaen University
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Asia University, Taiwan
This initiative marks another significant step in developing international academic programs that respond to the needs of modern industries and global business trends. The program is expected to be launched in the near future.
Asia University is recognized as one of Taiwan’s leading private universities with outstanding strengths in Management, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Science. The university also operates Asia University Hospital and hosts advanced semiconductor research facilities.
During the visit, the KKU delegation toured several important facilities within the university, including Asia University Hospital, the Semiconductor Research Center, the university museum, and other learning and innovation spaces. The visit provided valuable insights into university management, the integration of education and research, and innovation development in collaboration with industry and society.
The collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Asia University has been continuously strengthened over the years through joint research projects and academic publications led by Prof. Dr. Kanchana Sethanan and faculty members from Asia University. In addition, Prof. Dr. Ming-Lang Tseng, Director of the Institute of Innovation and Circular Economy at Asia University, has been invited to work with the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, as an Adjunct Professor under Thailand’s High-Potential Foreign Expert Program. The continuation of the grant for Fiscal Year 2026 is currently under consideration.
