Thank you to Jeanette (who attended CMIS during 1998-1999) and Langley Kreuze (CMIS 1992-94) for visiting us recently. They stopped by our administration building to look up their photos in the yearbook, walked through the campus to recall cherished memories from their time here, reconnected with former teachers, and made a special visit to their favorite spot—the old tamarind tree that still stands next to where the old cafeteria used to be. It was wonderful to see how much the school still means to them after all these years, and we loved hearing their stories about their CMIS experience. Alumni visits like these remind us of the lasting impact our school community has on students' lives.

We love when our school family returns to visit! A special thank you to Mr. Lance Potter, our former Head of School, for stopping by to walk his old grounds and revisit cherished memories.
It was wonderful to see him reconnect with the school community and even snap some photos of himself in the yearbooks – a perfect reminder of the lasting impact he made during his time here.
To all our alumni, former staff, and administrators: you are always part of our story, and we treasure these visits. Your doors are always open – come back anytime! 😊🦅💜

Special Alumni Visit!
We were honored to welcome Mr. Mark Overgaard, who attended CCC (the predecessor of CMIS) for 2nd and 3rd grade starting from 1955.
Mr. Mark walked through our admin building, which served as a dormitory during his time here, and toured the campus to revisit cherished memories. He brought along treasured keepsakes from his school days—his original workbook and grade reports—offering a fascinating glimpse into student life nearly 70 years ago. It was a joy to see these artifacts and hear his stories!
Thank you for visiting us, Mr. Mark! 🙏
We hope to see you again, perhaps at the opening of our new school. 😁 🦅🟣

Thank you to Mrs. Tanja Alina Berg for visiting us!
Mrs. Tanja attended CMIS from 1991-1994 as Tanja Liljeström. She came all the way from Norway 🇳🇴 to revisit her former playground and stroll through the school on a lovely rainy day, sharing cherished memories of her time here with her husband. During her visit, she had the special opportunity to look up her own photo in the yearbook and show it to her husband 😁, bringing back wonderful memories from her school days. It was a joy to welcome her back! 🦅💜

Welcome Back, J-Mo! 🎓💙
What a joy it was to welcome back John "J-Mo" Morelos, CMIS Class of 2011, to the campus!

J-Mo traveled all the way from Virginia with his wife to show her the place that helped shape him into the educator he is today.
Now a high school teacher, J-Mo credits his time at CMIS (grades 7-12) with building the foundation for both his character and career.
One of the most heartwarming moments of his visit? Watching J-Mo seek out and give hugs to members of our maintenance team who cared for him throughout those years. It's a beautiful reminder that the CMIS family extends beyond the classroom, and that the relationships built here last a lifetime.

It's always special when our alumni return home to CMIS, and hearing how the life skills, values, and community from their time here continue to impact their lives reminds us why we do what we do.

Thank you for making the trip, J-Mo! We're so proud of the educator and person you've become. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! 🦅

What a special day! 🎉 On Wednesday, July 3rd, we had the joy of welcoming back alumna Janis Hoffman (Worley) and her family. Janis shared her cherished memories from her time at CMIS (known as CCC back then) and took a nostalgic walk through the Admin building where she lived as a boarding student.

As is our wonderful tradition, she posed for photos alongside her yearbook picture, connecting her past and present in the most heartwarming way. These moments remind us why our CMIS family bond is so special. Thank you for visiting us, Janis! 🤎

We recently heard from alumnus Jonathan de Hoop '09. He shared, "after CMIS I studied film production in Mahidol University in Bangkok, after I graduated in 2013 I started... freelancing for international film productions, that are shot here in Thailand. Here are some recent projects that I’ve done: Da 5 bloods (shot mostly in Chiang Mai), Fast and Furious 9 and The Serpent. The movie I’m working on now is about the Vietnam war..." Jonathan also shared that this latest production is looking for extras during their upcoming shoot in Chiang Mai. So, if your interested contact the numbers/email below. Good luck!

We would like to conclude the school year 2020-2021 with this historical post. In 2018, Ruth Erickson, our librarian, told us there was a time capsule in her office. We found a large wooden box with instructions from the 1995 8th grade class to open it in the year 2020. We made plans to do so, but the pandemic changed those plans. We postponed the opening of the time capsule to 2021 but we were foiled again by COVID. As the year was coming to a close we realized we couldn't delay any longer. So we enlisted the help of two alumni and recorded the opening of the capsule via a Zoom call.

We could not show every item that was included in the capsule during this opening, but we've photographed/scanned each item and they can be viewed here:

We hope you enjoy this little glimpse of what CMIS was like 26 year ago.

A Note from the Alumni Relations Officer:

On October 28th I posted a photo of myself in a mask and sunglasses biking down Doi Suthep. Here is another mask and sunglasses photo - "My last few hours in Thailand."

Back in October 2020 I had shared about my bike accident and recovery. I'm happy to report that I'm mending well. Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and support during my recovery.

This Note is to announce that I am moving back to the US and the Alumni Relations Office is entering a “caretaker phase” until a new officer/staff member is appointed in August. Over the past 5 years many of you have shared fond memories of CMIS, the friendships made, teachers that influenced you, and the community spirit you found here.

A Collins has been involved at this school, off and on, since 1971. I won't be surprised if a Collins returns here in some capacity, but until then I'll be following the school's activities from afar.

Just because the Alumni Office is in a transition period, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. You can send a message to [email protected]

It has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the CMIS community as a parent the past 15 years and to serve as a the Alumni Relations Officer these last 5 years.

Kind Regards,

Andy Collins
Alumni Relations Officer
