LIS Green Market 💚🌱♻️

Our Green Market was a wonderful celebration of community, sustainability, and creativity!

Families came together to swap pre-loved clothes, books, and toys, giving treasured items a second life and helping us reduce waste while supporting SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. ♻️📚👕🧸

Alongside the swap market, our young entrepreneurs showcased their talents by creating and selling homemade products and delicious treats. It was inspiring to see students developing confidence, creativity, and real-world business skills while learning about sustainable ways to earn and share. 🍪🛍️✨

Events like these remind us that small actions can make a big difference. By sharing, reusing, and supporting one another, we are building a stronger community and helping our children learn the value of caring for both people and the planet.

Our school garden has been a true passion project, lovingly nurtured by many members of our staff over the years. From the very beginning, it has been important to us that our students learn where food comes from and understand the value of growing and caring for their own fruits and vegetables.

Today, we are proud to say that every meal served at school includes a little something from our own garden—fresh herbs and vegetables grown right here on campus. This is an achievement we are incredibly proud of.

This is Education for Sustainable Development in action. We are not just teaching these values in the classroom—we are living them as a community. As our garden continues to grow, so too will the amount of food we are able to harvest ourselves, reducing our reliance on supermarket produce and bringing even more fresh, homegrown ingredients to our students’ plates.

Now it’s time to get our students’ hands dirty and inspire the next generation of gardeners! 🌱🥬🍅

We’re excited to announce our Songkran Camp, running from April 6th - 10th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day!

Our camp is packed with fun activities, including crafts, team-building exercises, Songkran themed STEAM activities, and more to keep your children engaged and learning through play.

Important Information:
- Lunch is NOT included, so please pack a lunch for your child.
- Cost: 5,000 THB for the week

🌾 Thai Culture Program – Learning by Living the Culture 🇹🇭

Today, 12 students were proudly selected to take part in our Thai Culture Program based on their respect, enthusiasm for learning Thai culture, and consistent efforts in the classroom 👏

As part of this special experience, students visited an organic rice farm, where they had the incredible opportunity to learn how to harvest rice—a meaningful tradition deeply rooted in Thai history and daily life. 🌱

The students truly enjoyed the experience, and it was wonderful to see them immersing themselves so deeply in Thai and Samui traditions. This program aims to motivate students to learn the Thai language, appreciate Thai culture, and show respect for the people and country of Thailand—and today was a beautiful example of that in action.

We are already looking forward to organizing a special trip next term for a new group of students, giving even more children the opportunity to learn, connect, and experience Thai culture in an authentic and meaningful way. 💛

✨ A Triumph for Safer Streets in Samui! ✨

Our incredible Year 6 students have officially made history at LIS. As part of their learning journey into Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health & Wellbeing, they identified one of Samui’s biggest wellbeing challenges—road safety—and decided to take real action.

From creating an awareness video, to planning a protest, to organising a helmet-donation campaign, these young changemakers designed every step of their own project. And last Friday… their action plan came alive.

Our Year 6s marched through the streets of Lamai with confidence, courage, and compassion—sharing their message, raising awareness, and shining light on an issue that affects us all.

Their powerful student-made slogan says it all:
“Drive Slow with a Flow.”
Simple. Catchy. Impactful. 100% theirs.

The passion, teamwork, and unwavering commitment they showed is everything our ESD program stands for—students leading learning, taking ownership, and creating meaningful change for their community. We could not be more proud.

A huge thank you to for sponsoring this event, and to every parent who donated a helmet. Because of you, we were able to give free helmets to those who need them most. ❤️

🎥 Year 6 Road Safety Promo Video – SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing 🛵💚

Our Year 6 students have been learning about Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing. After exploring both global and local health issues, the class identified road safety as one of the most pressing concerns here on Koh Samui — and decided to take action!

🚸 Their mission: To make our island’s roads safer for everyone.
👥 Their plan: To raise awareness through community action and education.

Then, join us in making a real difference! There are two ways you can get involved:

1️⃣ Join our March – Friday, November 21st, 2:00–3:00 PM, as we take to the streets of Lamai to spread our message.
2️⃣ Donate a Helmet – We’ll be collecting new or used helmets to distribute to drivers in need.

💡 Don’t have a spare helmet at home? No problem! LIS will be providing helmets available for purchase and donation on your behalf.
