Today, let's learn how to ask about pets!
Asking "Do you have a pet?"
Use this phrase:
คุณมีสัตว์เลี้ยงไหม? (khun mee sàt-líang mái?)
คุณ (khun) = you
มี (mee) = to have
สัตว์เลี้ยง (sàt-líang) = pet (literally "animal to raise/keep")
ไหม (mái) = a polite word we add to the end of a question to make it a yes/no question.
"I have a cat"
You have two great options here:
#ฉันมีแมว (chǎn mee maew)
This means "I have a cat" (possession).
#ฉันเลี้ยงแมว (chǎn líang maew)
This means "I keep or raise a cat" (implying you care for it as a pet).
ฉัน (chǎn) = I
แมว (maew) = cat
Both are perfectly natural! Choose whichever feels best for your meaning.
