Day 1 of the Global WHO Conference, Shaping AI in Health, in Lisbon placed one message firmly at the centre of the conversation: innovation must not move faster than responsibility. Representatives from 37 countries gathered to explore how artificial intelligence can strengthen health systems while protecting patients, building public trust and preventing existing inequalities from becoming even wider.

The discussions moved beyond the potential of AI to the practical foundations needed for its responsible use: clear governance, ethical and legal accountability, reliable data and infrastructure, a prepared health workforce and cooperation across countries.

AI is already transforming health care. The challenge now is to ensure that every advancement is safe, equitable and designed to serve people first.

As health systems respond to the climate crisis, measuring and reducing their own greenhouse gas emissions is becoming an essential part of credible decarbonization. This World Health Organization (WHO) publication provides a standardized approach to emissions measurement across health systems, supporting target-setting, priority-setting and progress tracking over time.

Inis supported the publication through design conceptualization and layout, with a focus on clarity, accessibility and alignment with WHO editorial and design standards. The design approach helped structure complex technical content for practical use by health system planners, policymakers and technical teams.

We are proud to have supported the World Health Organization on its new publication: Strengthening capacity for newborn screening, diagnosis and management of birth defects. The report explores how countries can integrate newborn screening, diagnosis, care and long-term support for birth defects into national health systems, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.

We contributed technical editing and design/layout support to help make the publication clear, accessible and practical for those working to strengthen health systems, inform decision-making and improve care for children and families.
