The Institute of Development Management (IDM) was represented at the launch of the Call for Research Papers under the theme, โ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐โ๐จ 40 ๐๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐ค๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ข๐ค๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐จ๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ช๐๐จ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ก๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ.โ Held at Happy Valley Hotel, Ezulwini, the launch brought together government representatives, academics, lecturers, students and emerging researchers to reflect on Eswatiniโs demographic transition and the role of research in national development.
Representing IDM was Siniketiwe Mabuza, a Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety student and one of the student panelists. She highlighted research as an important vehicle for problem-solving and developing strategies that can improve lives. Siniketiwe also called for greater investment in student researchers, particularly in improving access to data and resources that enable students to conduct meaningful research and contribute to the national research agenda. The discussions highlighted the importance of research in understanding Eswatiniโs changing population dynamics and informing responses to challenges such as poverty, unemployment, human capital development, healthcare, education and other socio-economic priorities. The Call for Research Papers provides an opportunity for students, researchers and emerging scholars to contribute evidence, ideas and practical solutions to the countryโs development discourse.
