Designed Inequalities
There is wide difference between Swazis in terms of standard of living. The margin between the rich and the poor is increasing drastically instead of narrowing down. The regime promotes economic inequalities by making sure that the members of the royal family, their relatives and friends have more than they need while ordinary citizens battle with dire poverty, lacking food and proper housing.

Many members of the royal family occupy several positions where they draw salaries despite that they do not work in some of the jobs. Prince Sicalo the eldest son to king Mswati III serves as Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Defense, he occupies the position of position of Lieutenant General being third in command in the military. The prince further receives E6 million annually as an allowance as a prince. There are thousands of graduates in eSwatini who live in dire poverty and remain unemployed.

Princess Sikhanyiso the eldest daughter of king Mswati III serves as Minister of Information Communications and Technology (ICT), she is also a board member for eSwatini MTN. The princess holds a position within Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), princess Sikhanyiso is also part of king’s advisors (Liqoqo). The princess still receives E6 million annually as her royal allowance. In all these positions princess Sikhanyiso receives salaries despite that she does not work in those jobs.

Prince Linda who is brother to princess Sikhanyiso serves as Chief Finance Officer in the king’s office, the prince is also a board member for Eswatini Revenue Services (ERS). Prince Lindani also serves as Lieutenant General being forth in command in the military. This prince also receives E6 million annually as royal allowance. In all these positions prince Lindani receives monthly salaries irregardless that he does not work in all these jobs which is very unfair to ordinary citizens.

We demand the release of jailed pro – democracy members of parliament honourable Bacede Mabuza of Hosea constituency and honourable Mthandeni Dube of Ngwempisi constituency. We also call for the withdrawal of an arrest warrant against exiled honourable MP Mduduzi Simelane of Siphofaneni constituency. These MPs are imprisoned for defending public interests as Swazis continue to demand political reforms to ensure better service delivery and good governance.

The Swazi nation is struggling with economic inequalities as a result high unemployment. The tendency of royal members and their cronies occupying various positions promotes not only inequalities but also promotes corruption, poor public service delivery and waste of public funds. Swazis deserve better lives and fair governance in their country.
