PRESIDENTIAL ADVISOR FOR PEACE MEETS JUNUB CULTURAL FESTIVAL COMMITTEE TO ADVANCE PEACEBUILDING AND NATIONAL UNITY
The Junub Cultural Festival (JCF) is pleased to announce a meeting between Presidential Advisor for Peace, Peter Charleman Cawach, and the Junub Cultural Festival Committee, led by Chairman Israel Garang Tong.
The meeting focused on peacebuilding, national unity, cultural preservation, and the vital role of culture in bringing the people of South Sudan together.
During the engagement, Presidential Advisor for Peace Peter Charleman Cawach commended the JCF leadership and organizing committee for their efforts to bring South Sudanese communities together through culture. He expressed appreciation for the initiative to revive, preserve, and promote the country's rich cultural heritage.
The Presidential Advisor emphasized that cultural activities can serve as an important platform for peace, reconciliation, social cohesion, mutual understanding, and national unity. He further welcomed the participation of communities from across South Sudan in an event that celebrates the country's diversity while strengthening a shared national identity.
The Junub Cultural Festival 2026 is expected to bring together 72 cultural groups, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their traditional dances, customs, heritage, music, and cultural expressions.
The festival will take place from 9–11 October 2026 at Medan Simba, Juba.
Chairman Israel Garang Tong and the JCF Committee reaffirmed their commitment to making the festival a platform for peace, unity, cultural pride, reconciliation, and community dialogue.
The Junub Cultural Festival believes that South Sudan's cultural diversity is a national treasure and that celebrating this diversity together can contribute to building a more peaceful, united, and harmonious nation.
