PRESS STATEMENT

Yesterday, our Managing Director (MD), Molana Samwel Gumwel Maluil, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting education and talent development within the community.

Speaking during a recent Album launch at Nyakuron Cultural Center, the MD highlighted that Smooth Star is supporting promising young talents, including sponsorship for student Free Bob from senior one up to Senior 4, as well as assisting other young learners, including a girl progressing from Primary 6 to Senior 4.

He noted that this initiative reflects the school’s broader vision of nurturing both academic excellence and intellectual growth among students, while also encouraging creativity and talent development.

The MD further encouraged parents and members of the Luo community to bring their children to Smooth Star, emphasizing that the institution is committed to providing quality education and helping learners achieve their full potential in both academics and personal development.

Dear administration, teachers, and dear students,

I am truly grateful for the warm reception accorded to me today. It is an honor to be part of this wonderful gathering. I have been deeply entertained and inspired by the diverse cultural performances presented by the students. These cultural expressions clearly show that we have not forgotten our roots and where we come from.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Senior Three class for emerging winners in the inter-class debate contest. This is a great achievement. However, I encourage you not to stop here—let this victory be the beginning of greater success. I believe Smooth Star has the potential to compete and win even bigger prizes beyond the state level in the near future.

Furthermore, I am highly impressed by the organization and professionalism of the Smooth Star Journalism Club. Your work is extraordinary, and you are setting a strong example for others to follow. As a token of my appreciation and support, I am pleased to announce that I will purchase five press jackets for the club. These will be collected tomorrow, the 25th, by the patron of the club.

Yesterday was truly a remarkable day filled with academic challenges, vibrant cultural showcases, and meaningful friendships.

It was an honor to successfully conduct the 2026 inter-class debate competition. Our sincere appreciation goes to Hon. Makuek-Madieny Chiman Makuek and our able MD Molana Samwel Gumwel Maluil for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us and spend the day together.

Special thanks as well to our communities who proudly showcased their rich cultural heritage. Our diversity is our strength—each culture adds to the beauty of who we are as South Sudanese.

Senior Three Science (The giant debaters) emerged as the champions of the 2026 inter-class debate competition after a strong performance throughout the contest.

They faced tough competition from other classes on their way to the finals, where they went head-to-head with Senior One White (The predators). It was a hard-fought match—well done to Senior One for their effort, and congratulations to the winners.
