Did you know that some African countries have lost wildlife because of hunting, poaching, habitat destruction and lack of conservation?

We must not allow South Sudan to follow the same path.

What are we teaching our children? Are we teaching them to protect trees, respect animals, listen to birds singing and understand that every living creature has a place in nature?

Even a snake does not need to be killed simply because we are afraid of it. We need to change the mindset we inherited and teach the next generation to live alongside nature.

🌳 Without nature, what will tourists come to see?
🐘 Without wildlife, what will support our tourism industry?
🇸🇸 Without protecting our environment, what will we leave for our children?

South Sudan is blessed with beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Let us protect it today so the next generation can enjoy it tomorrow.

🌿 WHO WILL PROTECT NATURE FOR THE GENERATIONS TO COME? 🐘🦍🦚🐦🪳🕷🦋🌳🦌🐆🦒
Sometimes I watch documentaries about wildlife, and one thing always comes to my mind: many countries have lost their wildlife because of human actions.
The problem is that sometimes we think only about today. We think about what we can get, what we can eat, or what we can benefit from now. But we forget about the children and grandchildren who will come after us.
🇸🇸 South Sudan, we must change this mindset.
There are places where wildlife has disappeared because people hunted, trapped, or killed animals without thinking about tomorrow. Even some birds have become extremely afraid of people. When they see someone bending down, they may immediately fly away because they have learned to associate people with danger.
This is not only about animals. It is about our heritage. It is about our future.
Imagine a child in the future looking at a picture of an elephant, lion or beautiful bird and saying:
"Grandpa, Grandma, did South Sudan really have these animals?"
And we have to answer:
"Yes, we used to have them, but our generation failed to protect them."
💔 We must never allow that to happen.
Wildlife belongs not only to us. We are borrowing this beautiful nature from the next generation.
That is why we are calling on Ministry of Wildlife ConservationanTourism, communities, traditional leaders and everyone who loves South Sudan to continue educating people—especially in communities living close to wildlife—about why protecting nature is so important.
People need to understand that wildlife can bring tourism, jobs, education and opportunities to communities. A living elephant can benefit generations. A dead elephant benefits only one moment.
🦏 Tanzanian, Kenya, other is also a good reminder of how wildlife conservation requires long-term commitment. Countries can lose species and later have to work with other countries to restore them through conservation programmes and wildlife translocations.
So, SouthSudan, let's protect what we still have.
🌿 Don't destroy today what tomorrow's children will need.
🐘 Protect the elephants.
🦁 Protect the lions.
🦒 Protect the giraffes.
🦅 Protect the birds.
🌳 Protect our forests.
💧 Protect our rivers and wetlands.
Learn to live with nature. Love nature. Respect nature.
Because one day, we will not be here—but our children will.
Let's leave them something beautiful to inherit. 🇸🇸❤️🌿

1. The Sudd (The Giant Wetland)
The most defining feature of South Sudan's wildlife is The Sudd, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the world. This massive network of papyrus reeds and lagoons is a lifeline for animals during the dry season.
Mammals: It is a stronghold for the African Elephant White-eared Kob and the Tiangele (a subspecies of Topi).
Water-dwellers:
You will find massive populations of hippopotamuses and crocodiles.
Birds:
The Sudd is a paradise for birdwatchers, hosting thousands of migratory birds, pelicans, and herons
