This podcast exists because silence has cost us too much. Akol Podcast speaks where there is no hesitation and educates where confusion reigns. It brings real conversations about education, leadership, youth empowerment, technology, society, and mindset grounded in African reality, not borrowed theories.

This is a space where ideas are sharpened, not softened.
In a world full of noise, Akol Podcast chooses clarity. It challenges laziness of thought, inspires critical thinking, and gives young people language for their struggles and dreams. If you want motivation without lies, truth without arrogance, and vision without filters this is where you belong

Episode 1

Tomorrow at 6:30 pm South Sudan local time, I will be honored to introduce Kuei Atem, a mental health practitioner whose work sits at the crossroads of healing, justice, and human dignity.

Kuei Atem is trained in clinical social work and trauma-informed practice, with an academic background in criminology and law. This unique blend allows her to understand not only the human mind, but also the systems, violence, and social structures that shape behavior and trauma.

Her work focuses on helping individuals and communities navigate pain, rebuild trust, and move forward with resilience.

Sister Kuei brings both professional depth and real world insight, making complex issues around trauma, crime, and mental health accessible and deeply human.

Please join me tomorrow in our conversation with Kuei Atem.”

Episode 2

“It’s a pleasure to also introduce Athian Ambassador, a professional statistician whose work goes beyond numbers into the patterns of human behavior.

Athian brings a strong analytical mind to understanding how people think, choose, and respond to their environments. What sets him apart is his mindfulness of the human story behind the data recognizing that statistics are not just figures, but reflections of real lives, emotions, and experiences.

His perspective helps bridge evidence and empathy, offering insights that are essential when discussing behavior, mental health, and social outcomes. By connecting data with human meaning, Athian adds depth, clarity, and balance to today’s conversation.

Please join me tomorrow in our conversation with Athian Ambassador.”

Episode 1

Tribalism and online hate speech
The most effective way to reduce tribalism and hate speech in South Sudan is through civic education, youth-led initiatives, stronger media accountability, and inclusive national dialogue that promotes unity over ethnic division. Building trust across communities requires both grassroots engagement and institutional reforms.

Digitalization in South Sudan

31/12/2025

Akol Podcast the voice of innovation continues to open hard conversations that matter to our health system and our people. Tomorrow we dive into Radiology in the diagnosis and management of tuberculosis in South Sudan, a topic that speaks directly to our reality where early detection is often delayed and laboratory services are limited.

Radiology especially chest X ray plays a critical role in identifying tuberculosis guiding treatment decisions and monitoring recovery when other diagnostic tools are not easily available. In a country where TB remains a major public health threat strengthening radiological services can save lives by enabling faster diagnosis and better care.

I will be joined by Dr. Nyabol Manas Reek for this important conversation. Join us tomorrow at 01 01 206 at 11 3 am and let us see tuberculosis clearly through the lens of science and lived reality.

From Dr. Ngong Atem Akol Junior

Today I had some discussion on Viral Hepatitis on Akol Mawien Athian podcast.

Nb. Hepatitis has other causes like Alcohol and drug over dose but here we only had discussion on Viral Hepatitis.

Types of Viral Hepatitis.

1. Hepatitis A. This type is caused by Hepatitis A virus. The mode of transmission is through feco-oral meaning you come across the food or water contaminated with feaces of an infected person. Hepatitis A is a self limiting disease meaning the body immune system can fight and clear it out of the blood. No medical treatment is required. There's vaccine for Hepatitis A.

2. Hepatitis B. This type is caused by Hepatitis B virus. The mode of transmission is by s*xual contact, needles, syringes and mother to baby during child birth. Hepatitis B is a chronic infection and therefore one can live for many years with it. Mostly Hepatitis B does not present and symptoms. It only shows when it has reaches the end stage where it's irreversible and will definitely kill the patient. Hepatitis B has no Cure but can only be controlled. Hepatitis B has vaccine and can be prevented. Hepatitis B can leads to liver cancer known as Hepatocellular carcinoma.

3. Hepatitis C. This type is the same as Hepatitis B. You can read about Hepatitis B above. The only different is that Hepatitis C has no vaccine but it's curable with antiviral drugs unlike Hepatitis B.

4. Hepatitis D. This type is the severe form of Hepatitis B. Meaning you must be Hepatitis B patient to develop Hepatitis D. But it's rare.

5. Hepatitis E. This type is the same as Hepatitis A. The only different is that Hepatitis E has no vaccine but it's self limiting. Hepatitis E affect Mostly the pregnant mothers. It's deadly in pregnancy.

Generally Hepatitis present with Jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, fever, nausea and vomiting but there's an exception, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C which are the most dangerous form of Hepatitis do not mostly present with any symptoms or clinical manifestations. These two types only show up when the liver is damaged and can not be treated again.

Tips.

Hepatitis is preventable and treatable only if detected early.

You will not know you have Hepatitis until you go for screening.

Always have safe and protected s*x and avoid any practice that exposes one to the blood of the other. ( to prevent B, C & D)

Proper hygiene and sanitation. (to prevent A and E)
