BISHOP MAZZOLARI MEMORIAL SECONDARY SCHOOL LAUNCHES ITS FIRST MAGAZINE, "APEX"

A Historic Milestone in Promoting Creativity, Talent, and Academic Excellence

Bishop Mazzolari Memorial Secondary School has marked a historic milestone with the official launch of its first-ever school magazine, "Apex," since the institution's establishment in 2014. The colorful and memorable event brought together the school administration, teaching staff, and students in a celebration of academic excellence, creativity, innovation, and student achievement.

The magazine was authored by Piath Chol Koknyin, a Senior Four Arts student whose dedication, talent, and commitment to excellence culminated in the production of this remarkable publication. The launch of Apex represents a significant step in the school's efforts to nurture student creativity, encourage intellectual expression, and provide a platform through which learners can share their ideas, experiences, and aspirations.

The event was graced by the Principal, Fr. Peter Garang Garang, alongside the Head Teacher, Mr. Peter Lueth Maker, the Deputy Head Teacher, Mr. Abraham Makoi Dhieu, members of the school administration, teachers, and students. The function was moderated by the Deputy Head Teacher for Academic Affairs, Mr. Majur Agoth Machol, who guided the proceedings and underscored the importance of student-led initiatives in advancing the school's educational mission beyond classroom learning, reading, and writing to talent identification and development.

In his keynote remarks, Mr. Peter Lueth Maker commended Piath Chol Koknyin for her outstanding achievement and expressed pride in witnessing the publication of the school's first magazine. He noted that education extends beyond classroom instruction and encouraged students to cultivate a culture of reading, writing, critical thinking, and creativity, describing these qualities as essential pillars for personal growth, academic success, and future leadership.

Fr. Peter Garang Garang conveyed his sincere appreciation to the family of Piath Chol Koknyin for their unwavering support, encouragement, and commitment to their daughter's educational aspirations. He emphasized that strong collaboration between families and schools plays a vital role in enabling students to realize their full potential and achieve their dreams.

During the ceremony, the school administration also recognized the exceptional performance of the school's debate team, which recently emerged as champions of the "Lakes State Debaters Contest 2026" . The administration applauded the team for their dedication, teamwork, and exemplary representation of the school, describing their achievement as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire school community.

Speaking on behalf of the administration, Mr. Abraham Makoi Dhieu encouraged all students to emulate such achievements by embracing hard work, discipline, innovation, and determination in their academic and co-curricular pursuits.

Representing the teaching staff, Mr. Zechariah Thon Duop stressed that creativity and critical thinking are indispensable skills in the modern world. He urged students to continuously seek opportunities for self-improvement, innovation, and excellence, noting that such qualities are essential for success in an increasingly competitive global environment.

The launch of Apex stands as a landmark achievement in the history of Bishop Mazzolari Memorial Secondary School. It reflects the institution's unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence, leadership, creativity, and talent development while empowering students to become confident thinkers, effective communicators, and responsible citizens.

As the school celebrates this historic accomplishment, it looks forward to future editions of Apex and to nurturing more young writers, researchers, debaters, and innovators who will continue to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the institution.
