The Amaralaisy project is named after a Dominican woman (Amara Laisy) who was killed by a client right at Verlengde Hogestraat Paramaribo. The reason why the office is at this street. What makes this project necessary and different is that across the world, migration is increasingly shaped by gender where women and girls make up nearly half of displaced populations. And yet, their journeys are often marked by specific risks: violence, trafficking, exploitation and too often, invisibility. 💜💛

AMARALAISY – Strengthening Local CSOs to Improve Care for Women Victims of Sexual Exploitation is a project aimed at improving support and protection for women and girls affected by violence, migration vulnerabilities, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation in Suriname and the Dominican Republic. Through awareness campaigns, community outreach, referral services, and institutional collaboration, the project seeks to enhance access to information, healthcare, safety, and support, particularly for migrant women and those seeking to leave situations of exploitation.
The project director is LAVINIA RUSCIGNI and together with SIMONA FORMICA they coordinate this DAntilles et DAlleurs (DaDa) project in Suriname and Dominica. The country representative in Suriname 🇸🇷 is ALISA CLEMENTSON, assisted by MELISSA VENTURA and the country representative in Dominica 🇩🇲 is KATIUSCA PAYANO. 💜💛

The official opening of the DaDa Office in Suriname took place on April 11th 2026 at Verlengde Hogestraat 25, Paramaribo.
This milestone marks a new chapter of growth, service, and opportunity as we continue our commitment to supporting and empowering our community. Thanks to the French Ambassador, the representative from the Cabinet of the President, the President of DaDa, the country and project financer and all the other guests who were present.
