Our 3rd and 4th year Bachelor students recently visited a beautiful village in the Brokopondo District of Suriname 🇸🇷 for an inspiring cultural fieldtrip experience as part of the course COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM.

During this immersive day trip, students connected with the local community, explored everyday traditions, and researched how authentic local experiences can become meaningful tourism opportunities that directly benefit the community.

Through storytelling, students are learning how ordinary aspects of daily life, culture, food, nature, and traditions can be transformed into sustainable tourism concepts — while always respecting local identity and contributing to community development.

What an inspiring evening at our IHTC Leadership Panel! ✨

We had the privilege of learning from incredible leaders: Saralisa Dwarkasing, Iraida van Dijk-Ooft (Mighty Racks), Egon von Foidl (SHATA Courtyard Marriott Paramaribo and Karuna Kartaram Multi Travel and Queens Hotel — who generously shared their insights, experiences, and wisdom.
