In the Old Testament God commanded the people of Israel to give their first tithe towards the need of the Levites (Lev. 27:30-32; Num. 18:21, 24, 26-28). He also ordained that the first fruit is for the priests (see Lev. 2:14; Num. 18:8-20). The teaching of the New Testament follows the same pattern.
