In response to the growing national and global demand for qualified healthcare professionals with strong scientific knowledge, clinical competencies, and the ability to respond to evolving healthcare needs, Hormuud University officially announces the establishment of the 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬.

The new faculty is established to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals capable of delivering high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care, with a strong emphasis on medical sciences, practical clinical training, diagnosis and management of health conditions, disease prevention, and community health.

In response to the growing national and regional demand for skilled professionals in biomedical engineering, healthcare technology, and medical device development, Hormuud University officially announces the establishment of the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.

The study examines how artificial intelligence can strengthen climate–health early warning across the Horn of Africa, where drought, flooding, conflict, and displacement drive recurring outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and other climate-sensitive diseases. The authors propose a five-layer Climate–Health Early Warning System (CHEWS) that fuses satellite earth observations, routine disease surveillance, and vulnerability indicators into a single predictive pipeline, together with a phased regional roadmap anchored in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and built on data sovereignty, participatory governance, and privacy-by-design.

The study proposes an integrated renewable energy system combining solar PV, hydrogen production, fuel cells, and wireless power transfer to support sustainable electric bus rapid transit. Using advanced optimization techniques, the system achieved a 77.1% renewable energy share and the potential to reduce approximately 807.6 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

The University was represented by 𝐘𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐟 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝, Academic Staff at Hormuud University and PhD Candidate in Artificial Intelligence, serving as a member of the National AI Readiness Assessment Committee, where he contributed to discussions on Somalia’s AI future, including AI policy and strategy, responsible AI, data governance, ethical AI, and the role of higher education in developing a sustainable national AI ecosystem.

As the first university in Somalia to offer Bachelor's degree programs in Artificial Intelligence, Hormuud University remains committed to advancing AI education, research, innovation, and capacity building to support Somalia’s digital transformation and responsible AI development.

In response to the growing national and global demand for skilled professionals in climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable natural resource management, Hormuud University officially announces the establishment of the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
