A new FM Radio facility in has now been completed, including transmission & tower infrastructure. The new facility was handed over to Jubaland Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism today.
Local radio remains one of the most trusted and accessible sources of information in Somalia — critical for public awareness, community dialogue, education, and communication during crises and climate shocks.

The Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project is now 82% complete.
Once operational, the system will treat up to 13,500m³ of water daily, significantly expanding access to safe water and strengthening public health, resilience and recovery in one of Somalia’s fastest-growing cities.
IOM Somalia Chief of Mission, Manuel Marques Pereira, visited the construction site to observe progress on the project and ongoing efforts to improve water access for communities in , .

Action Against Hunger (ACF), SOS Children's Villages in Somalia and IOM Somalia conducted joint community awareness sessions in focused on nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), cholera prevention, hygiene promotion, flood preparedness, early warning systems and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
The sessions strengthened community awareness on disease prevention, safe water use, hygiene practices and preparedness measures ahead of the rainy season, while encouraging community participation in response efforts.

📍 In Jowhar, communities came together to strengthen dialogue, social cohesion and peacebuilding.
Wasaaradda Dhallinyarada iyo Isboortiga Hirshabeelle together with IOM, convened a panel discussion bringing together local authorities, women leaders, youth representatives, peacebuilding actors and community members to exchange ideas on security, unity and peaceful coexistence.
The discussion highlighted the critical role of youth in shaping decisions that affect their future and advancing community-led solutions for lasting peace.
The initiative also supported the wider Peace & Cleaning Campaign in Jowhar, promoting collective action and community engagement around peace priorities.
The session was officially closed by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Hirshabelle State, who recognized the leadership of the Youth Advisory Council and reaffirmed the importance of inclusive dialogue in fostering lasting peace and unity.

From losing over 200 goats to rebuilding her life through business, Hodan’s story is one of resilience in the face of drought.
After losing their livelihood to repeated climate shocks, Hodan and her family received support through small business grants in Doolow — helping her open a shop that now sells clothes, food, and vegetables.
“Now the shop is running well. It has changed my life.”
Across Somalia, climate shocks continue to push families to adapt, rebuild and find new ways forward. Stories like Hodan’s show how investing in livelihoods can help communities move beyond survival toward stability and resilience.

Peace starts with dialogue, and youth are at the center of it in Jowhar.
A peace campaign and panel discussion on youth, peace and security brought together government leaders, traditional elders, women representatives and young people to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration.
The forum created space for meaningful conversations, where participants directly engaged with decision-makers, asked questions and explored practical solutions to challenges affecting their communities.
With youth taking the lead and communities actively participating, these dialogues are helping to build trust, strengthen inclusion and pave the way for more peaceful and resilient communities.
