We are delighted to welcome promising young leaders from across SIMAD University’s academic disciplines to the Institute’s Green Champions community.

Over the coming year, they will take part in mentorship, training, workshops, community engagement, and practical climate initiatives designed to strengthen their leadership, deepen their environmental knowledge, and translate ideas into action.

We proudly concluded the Climate Curriculum Integration (CCI) Series, a year-long initiative designed to make climate education relevant across academic disciplines and future professions at SIMAD universities.

Over the past 12 months, 9 facilitators engaged 479 students across 9 faculties, connecting climate change with fields ranging from engineering, economics and law to health, computing, education, governance and accountancy.

The closing and appreciation ceremony brought together our facilitators and partners to recognize their contribution to this journey. We were pleased to welcome Mr. Abdirashid Nor from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) as part of the occasion.

Our sincere appreciation goes to every facilitator who contributed knowledge, time and expertise to advancing interdisciplinary climate learning.

The program demonstrates a simple but important principle that climate change is not the responsibility of one discipline—it is a challenge every profession must understand and help address.

Climate change is transforming the way we understand and protect public health. Together with Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, we delivered a session on "Climate Change and Public Health: Preparing Future Healthcare Professionals," where we will explored how climate change is impacting human health and why future healthcare professionals play a critical role in building resilient and sustainable communities. The session facilitated by Ustaad Ahmed Mahad Sheikh Mohamed. Participants gained valuable insights on climate-related health challenges, preparedness, and the role of the health sector in creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
