The University of Hargeisa participated in the Validation Workshop for the Tourism and Hospitality Management Policy organized by the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Somaliland. Representing the University, Mr. Ahmed Yuusuf Goolcade, Public Relations Manager, Dr. Fekadu Y. Maru, Dean of the College of Business, Economics and Statistics, and Mrs. Jamila Abdi Elmi, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, actively contributed to discussions and provided valuable feedback to strengthen the quality, relevance, and implementation framework of the proposed policy. The workshop served as an important platform for dialogue on tourism and hospitality education, workforce development, and sustainable tourism practices, while promoting collaboration among government institutions, higher education institutions, and the private sector. The University of Hargeisa remains committed to supporting national development initiatives and advancing Somaliland’s tourism and hospitality sector through education, research, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.

The University of Hargeisa welcomed a delegation from UNICEF Somaliland for a strategic engagement focused on strengthening collaboration in research, innovation, capacity development, and sustainable water resource management. The meeting highlighted the University’s academic and research strengths, community engagement initiatives, and its growing role as a leading center for higher education and innovation in Somaliland. Discussions also focused on the proposed Groundwater Exploration, Mapping and Test Drilling (GEM) Project, a joint initiative aimed at improving groundwater exploration, hydrogeological data systems, local technical capacity, and sustainable water resource planning. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to advancing evidence-based research, innovation, and partnerships that contribute to water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development across Somaliland.

The University of Hargeisa hosted a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme for discussions on advancing Somaliland’s Creative and Cultural Industries (Orange Economy). The delegation toured key university facilities, including the Biodiversity Center and Herbarium, the University’s laboratories, and the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, before meeting with Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub and the University’s leadership. Discussions focused on the role of higher education in promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and youth empowerment, while exploring opportunities for collaboration with UNDP in research, capacity building, and innovation initiatives to support the growth of Somaliland’s creative economy.

The event concluded with members feeling inspired and motivated to apply the book’s lessons in their daily lives.

This study developed and validated a comprehensive multidimensional scale for measuring digital entrepreneurial platform capabilities and examined their impact on entrepreneurial performance. The findings demonstrate that digital entrepreneurial platforms play a significant role in enhancing entrepreneurial outcomes by enabling entrepreneurs to access resources, foster innovation, expand market reach, and improve business performance within the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Junior students from the Department of Public Health at the University of Hargeisa conducted an educational field visit to DP World Berbera and Berbera General Cargo Port, where they assessed key public health areas, including port health requirements, inspection procedures, waste management, and environmental sanitation. The visit provided practical exposure to occupational health and safety systems, vessel inspection protocols, and environmental health practices, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting and strengthen their understanding of international public health standards and maritime health operations.
