The historic city of Port Loko was enveloped in a wave of jubilant celebration and heartfelt history as Schlenker Secondary School celebrated its 66th anniversary with a grand and vibrant procession that brought together generations in a resounding celebration of legacy and community spirit.

The city's streets, usually bustling with the everyday hum of commerce, were transformed into a flowing river of blue and white as thousands of current students, alumni, and community members matched proudly in their school colours. The atmosphere was electrified, filled with the rhythmic, commanding beats of local brass bands, whose lively melodies drew parents, guardians, well-wishers, and enthusiastic onlookers into spontaneous dances along the parade route, creating an infectious spirit of festivity and connection.

A poignant highlight of the day's celebrations was the esteemed presence of the school's very first enrolled student from its founding year of 1959. Honoured as a living testament to the institution's remarkable history over six decades, this alumnus received special recognition and was celebrated grandly by both current students and fellow graduates.

In a moving gesture of intergenerational exchange, the pioneer student, representing a wealth of knowledge and experience, shared captivating anecdotes and invaluable insights with an attentive audience gathered around him. His heartfelt stories served as a powerful reminder of the foundational roots of the school and its enduring mission to foster an unbroken chain of knowledge and wisdom across generations.

The event was further enriched by the attendance of distinguished figures, including former principals, revered teachers, past and present members of government, the trending and leading APC party Flag Bearer Aspirant, Mr Sorie Sulaiman Sesay (SSS) and notable community leaders, who reunited to honour the profound impact Schlenker Secondary School has had on education in the Northern Province. Their presence not only highlighted the legacy of academic excellence but also underscored a shared commitment to the values and community spirit that the institution embodies.

Witnesses described the occasion not merely as an anniversary but as a vibrant reaffirmation of community bonds. The celebrations illustrated how Schlenker Secondary School has long served as a cornerstone for Port Loko, the Northern region and Sierra Leone in shaping the characters of its students and forging lifelong connections that transcend time and circumstance.

As the vibrant echoes of brass bands gradually faded into the distance, the memory of the 66th anniversary left an enduring impression of unity and pride, encapsulating a community joyfully celebrating its storied past while eagerly anticipating a future strengthened by a rich foundation.

The Executive of the Schlenker Old Students Association (SOSA) is pleased to inform the general public, all old students, and friends of Schlenker that a live radio discussion programme is currently underway at Radio Bankasoka —FM 97.5 as part of our activities leading to the grand Schlenker @ 66 Anniversary Celebration.

This special radio segment aims to highlight the lineup of activities marking the 66th Anniversary — including the unveiling of our official jingle, spiritual rites, community engagements, and other upcoming commemorative events.

We therefore encourage the general public, Schlenkerians at home and abroad, and all well-wishers to tune in, follow the conversation, and make meaningful contributions to the discussion. Your thoughts, memories, and suggestions matter as we celebrate this historic milestone together!

With reference to the aforementioned subject, we're pleased to inform all Schlenkerians, members, well-wishers, and the general public that the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Freetown in copy of the North West Police Regional and Local Unit Commander has officially approved our *66th Anniversary Celebration Activities, including the Anniversary Jogging,* which will commences *tomorrow, Wednesday, 8th October 2025, at 7:00 AM prompt.*

All participants are to converge at the Schlenker Secondary School compound for takeoff. The jogging route will cover *Freetown Road → Lunsar Road → Central Ajip → Falaba Road → Moudu Street → WFP Office → EBKUST Road → Lungi/Old Makeni Road → S. I Curve → Local Court Barry → St. James Field Roundabout.*

We call on all Schlenkerians — past, present, and well-wishers — to join us in this peaceful and exciting *Anniversary Jogging tomorrow* as we celebrate 66 years of Holistic Education, Honouring the past, Celebrating the Present and Shaping the future.

*PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT – BURIAL OF THE LATE MR. FODAY SHERIFF*

Dear esteemed Schlenkerians and the entire members of public,

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that the burial ceremony of our beloved teacher, mentor, and colleague — the *Late Mr Foday Sheriff,* will take place *today, Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Queen Arena Ahmadiyya Muslim Masjid, Port Loko.*

As a mark of our deepest respect and collective honour to this great educator who served with passion and excellence, all SOSA members, staff, and students are kindly requested to converge at the school campus to line up and move together to the burial home in the company of the Schlenker Brass Band.

Please note that the *66th Anniversary School Debate and Inspection,* originally scheduled for today, *will not take place as planned* due to this solemn occasion. Any new updates regarding rescheduling of this event, will be communicated in due course.

Let us all come together in unity and gratitude to pay our final respects to a man whose dedication and service shaped countless lives within Schlenker and beyond.
