Today 4th July 2026 , Koidu Government Hospital received it first -mile distribution of integrated health commodities and supplies to Kono District.The exercise was witnessed by DHMT Kono,the local councils, Executive Secretary of Civil Society Kono, the Anti-Corruption Commission among others.
The supplies include essential commodities for Malaria ,HIV ,Tuberculosis, Community Health Workers (CHWs) and reproductive, maternal , new born child , adolescent and nutrition.
Stakeholders present caution the KGH management to monitor the drugs inorder to be use for it intended purpose.

The Ministry of Health(MoH) and Partners In Health (PIH) has today 26th June 2026 launched a Joint Hospital Management Framework (JHMF) at the Koidu Government Hospital in Kono District. According to the Permanent Secretary MoH and the Executive Director Partners said the Joint Hospital Management Framework (JHMF) aimed at Improving hospital management, accountability,transparency and quality in healthcare delivery in Kono District and the country as a whole.The framework they said is part of a three -year partnership agreement established to strengthen proper coordination between Koidu Government Hospital and the Maternal Centre (MCOE) allowing both facilities to operate under shared leadership and management approach.This they said will help improve timely planning,accountability and also the proper use of the health resources such as drugs , medical equipment and other essential supplies meant for the facilities.
It also believed that the joint partnership will help promote and address learning opportunities for staff , professionalism and improved monitoring system within both facilities.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer from MoH said there are plans to set new dialysis unit in the facility , set up CT Scanner and endoscopy unit to help bring advanced diagnostic and treatment services much closer to the patients.
He assured all that part of government long term vision is for Koidu Government Hospital to become a tertiary and teaching hospital that will help contribute to training of future health professionals in Sierra Leone and beyond.
Both partners also encouraged staff to maintain professionalism, discipline , accountability and teamwork in the facilities that will make facility a leading maternal and child healthcare in Sierra Leone and the sub-region.
Similar contributions as comments and recommendations were shared Chairman Kono District Council, the Chief Administrator of the Koidu New Sembehum City Council , Executive Secretary Civil Society Kono and and staff of the hospital.
The programme ended with photos and tour of the MCOE and the newly commissioned Solar Project site for both families.

As we commemorate this historic day today , we want to continue to reflect our minds deeply on the Soweto South Africa that left hundreds children and youth massacred while protesting for their rights.
