Team KonoCEF join the world in the celebration of the Menstrual Hygiene Day in Kono District Eastern Sierra Leone.The celebration brought together development partners, Ministries, Development Agencies, School leaders , students mostly girls , community leaders , civil society organizations , media among others.
The purpose was to continue to raise awareness campaign on the 2026 theme : Period Friendly World.
The session was participatory by all present, and ended with a free sanitary pad distribution for girls present.

The Civic Day Series organised by the government is one of the best ways for young generation to learn about our country Sierra Leone.
Congratulations to all the schools that participated in the Quiz and the Debate for such am amazing performance.
You guys did extremely well.
Bravo to our traditional authorities for giving some historical fact/information about Kono District during event.
Also congratulations to the Kono District Council Chairman and team for the refurbishment of the entire District Council to a State of the Earth facility in Kono as it was officially reopned during the event.

Today 5th February 2026 , the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) and ECOWAS National Office has today held a day District Level Sensitization Campaign on the Activities of ECOWAS.
The meeting which was held at the newly refurbished Kono District Council Hall brought together ECOWAS ambassador to Sierra Leone and his team , Minister of MoPED and team, council staff , MDAs, Civil society organisations , security apparatus, traditional authorities, schools authority, women’s group , youth groups , the media among others.
The ambassador and the minister emphasized on the contribution of ECOWAS to Sierra Leone as part of the regional block.

Congratulations to our Executive Director Mani Ngaujah - one of the recipients of the Kumba Nganga Alli Foundation (KNAF) last night at the prestigious Diamond Lodge in Kono District.
This award recognises individuals whose dedication and service have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others, particularly in advancing the welfare, education, and development of children and families in society.
The awardees were assessed based on their outstanding contributions in the areas of child welfare, education, women’s empowerment and community development that strongly embody the theme “Every Child Deserves a Chance.”
The Recognition Ceremony took place on Saturday, 13th December 2025, at the Diamond Lodge Hotel in Yengema, Kono District.

Today marks the 25th November 2025 which is the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
This is is a global campaign that runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).
The campaign focuses on the
i.Raise awareness about gender-based violence in the community
ii. Advocate for policy changes to prevent and respond to violence
iii. Support survivors and promote their rights in the community.
The 16 Days of Activism also highlight the need for strong and collaborative stakeholders action in the following ; End violence against women and girls, Promotion of gender equality
and Create a safer, more just society for everyone.
As various local actors in the communities , we kindly appeal for a stronger network in tackling Gender Based Violence issues in our respective communities for safe society.
