COVID-19 has drastically changed the lives of millions around the world, including university students in Sierra Leone. Radically, the pandemic has shifted everything about the learning aspect and sent many students back home.
While Sierra Leone is facing the outbreak of COVID-19, universities are crucially affected at their core, the period is undoubtedly very stressful: classes are moved online, semesters are postponed, examinations and how they are conducted remain uncertain. As some Universities/colleges have gone virtual, how has this affected students in Sierra Leone especially the less privilege students who struggles (provides) for themselves, students who could not have access to a computer or a smart phone to joined their colleagues in the online lectures a has been left out with complete doubt.
In this regards, the Students Initiative for Sustainable Development Goals as a students based organization will be hosting a webinar where representatives (S.U.G Presidents) from all higher learning institution will be present and also speak on behalf of their colleague students.
The objective of the webinar is as a result of the cancellation of the National Students Summit which was scheduled to take place on the 1st 2nd and 3rd April, 2020 respectively, but was postponed due to the pandemic. This webinar will serve as a platform to connect student leaders across the country as we are planning to host the National Students summit in January 2021, and also to get the views of them on the “IMPACT OF COVID-19 on University students” as they are the mouth piece of their colleague students in their various learning institution.
The Impact of psychological impact of this abrupt change and shift in livelihood caused by the pandemic, conducted with four main purposes in mind:
(1) To evaluate the mental situation of University students during the epidemic
(2) To provide a theoretical basis for psychological interventions with University students
(3) To provide a basis for the promulgation of national and governmental policies.
(4) To execute the process of moving the academic support in every quarter.

NATIONAL STUDENTS SUMMIT 2020
The NATIONAL STUDENT SUMMIT is an initiative design by the student Initiative 4 Sustainable Development Goals Eastern Polytechnic Kenema to bring the perspectives of young people to the challenge of rethinking education and equips them to take on leading roles in their fields and in the world of education. The Summit is based on the idea that when learners are co-creators of their learning environments, they become active participants invested as stakeholders in the progress of their communities.

ABOUT THE SUMMIT:
National Students Summit is a three days simulation for students, which is gear towards enhancing the Sustainable Development Goals. During the summit, participants or delegates will engaged themselves into the Dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of world leaders and influential decision makers. It is an opportunity for delegates to improve their skills in many domains such as: teamwork, negotiation, leadership, public speaking, diversity and many other. The particular focus of this summit is to enhance the SDG 4 “Quality Education”
The summit will bring together 300 students from across all Universities, Colleges, and Schools, students who are passionate about the Sustainable development goals (SDGs) especially goal #2 #4, #5, goal #8 #10 #13 #17. The summit will create a platform for the perspective of the students to be presented and deliberate, share ideas, and learn from expert speakers on issues relating to education for sustainable development.
