The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has released a comprehensive set of regulations for the upcoming festive season, mandating strict curfews on noise and vehicle movement, while outright banning fireworks and unauthorized street gatherings.
In a public notice issued this month, the police outlined measures to ensure peace and security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Key among them is a strict 10:00 p.m. curfew on loud music and noise, enforceable under the Public Order Act of 1965.
The notice explicitly prohibits the firing of guns, rockets, or any fireworks throughout the country. It also bans all street processions, carnivals, and religious street marches without written permission from the Inspector General of Police. Mask devils and masquerades similarly require prior police clearance.

Fake Police Officer Arrested in Mattru Jong

Mattru Jong, 21 August 2025 Police in Mattru Jong have arrested a man on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.

According to the Operations Officer of Bonthe Division, Chief Inspector Mohamed Sheriff, the suspect, identified as Mark Anthoney of 28 Hindowa Street, Bo No. 2, Bo City, was apprehended at the main lorry park in Mattru Jong on Thursday, 21 August 2025. He was found wearing a full Police uniform and allegedly presenting himself as a serving officer.

During questioning, the suspect claimed to be employed by a private security company which he referred to as the Sierra Leone Police Security Agency, said to be based along the Bo–Kenema Highway in Bo City and allegedly overseen by one Mr Abdul Lumeh.

The suspect is currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.

🚨 Bench Warrant Issued for Malador in $30,000 Fraud Case

A bench warrant has been issued for Malador, the manager of Malador Company Limited, after he failed to appear in court at Pademba Road Court No. 4.

He faces serious charges of conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent conversion involving an alleged $30,000 scam.

Magistrate Samuel Koroma ordered the warrant after Malador’s no-show.

The case continues to unfold.

Burkina Faso
has broken its own pineapple production
record thanks to Djoda Farm. The country is now among the promising new players in pineapple exports in the world.
In 2023, it exported 3.2 tons of fresh or dried pineapples, mainly to Israel, for an income of about $27,730. In 2022, pineapple juice exports reached 256.2 tonnes, with destinations such as Mali, Ghana, and Sierra Leone.
With a national demand estimated at 10,000 tonnes by 2026, Burkina Faso displays strong development potential in this chain. Improving infrastructure, training producers, and facilitating access to international markets could accelerate this momentum.
