As the June 24th general elections draw closer, we are happy to have played our part by organizing a two day capacity building workshop at our library and resource center facility for young people selected from within the Western Area Rural District, Freetown.
The focus of the workshop is to strengthen peaceful coexistence within our communities and to foster violent free elections in Sierra Leone.
Participants were empowered to become Peace Ambassadors within their communities, before, during and after the general elections. At the end of the workshop, participants were supported with megaphones, a medium to raise their voice in preaching peace and non-violence.
As we are in the wake of the elections, we call on national authorities, communities leaders, youth leaders and all sectors of our country to prioritize peace so as to achieve a violence free general elections.
This project is funded by USAID through the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa, Accra Alumni Community Engagement Fund.
