The Family Support Unit(FSU) of Sierra Leone today engaged Staff and Pupils of Gateway Daycare Nursery Preparatory and High School
The engagement was held as part of their ongoing child protection and community engagement strategy aimed at increasing awareness of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Child Trafficking amongst school pupils.

The FSU team was represented by DSgt. Margaret M. Sesay and Detective Ibrahim Sorie Conteh.

The session focused on educating pupils about SGBV, forms and signs of Child Trafficking, children’s rights and responsibilities, and the importance of reporting suspicious or harmful activities to the FSU. The facilitators delivered clear, age-appropriate messages and emphasized the role of the Sierra Leone Police in protecting children.

Pupils actively participated in the interactive segment and raised questions relating to abuse, reporting procedures, and personal safety. Their engagement demonstrated a strong interest in understanding of how to protect themselves and their peers.

The Management of the School express its sincere thanks and appreciation to the team from FSU for bringing such impactful awareness to the Pupils. He noted that the presence of the Police fosters confidence and strengthens community trust. He further requested that similar sensitization programs be conducted on a regular basis to continue educating pupils on safety and protection.

The sensitization session was successful, impactful, and highly appreciated by the school administration and pupils. The FSU team delivered essential information and hope to strengthened collaboration between the school and the Sierra Leone Police. Continued engagements are recommended to sustain the impact.
