Background

The Virtues International High School is a co-educational institution that provides education for both boys and girls from Nursery, Primary and Junior Secondary School (J.S.S 1-3) levels. The institution was founded in September 2012 with twenty--three (23) pupils. Sierra Leone over the years has been grappling with lack of educational facilities for young people. Even though the country has been making progress in early childhood education, there is still a great job to do when it comes to secondary education. Many pupils who go through the primary school stage sometimes do not proceed to the secondary school level. This is because many communities lack institutions that can cater for the educational needs of the pupils. Thus, many pupils have to travel far away from their communities to attend secondary school. The distance poses a great threat to the attendance of pupils in secondary schools. Often transportation is either expensive or unaffordable for parents in such communities in the outskirts of the cities. This situation contributes to the high rate of drop outs from secondary schools and more. To help solve the educational needs of the Yams Farm village in the outskirts of Freetown is the main reason why the Virtue International High School was established. The school now cater for surrounding communities and works to address the educational challenges of these communities thereby making an impact in Sierra Leone.

Needs of the school

As a young school funded by a small church, the institution has been struggling over the years with several needs. We are presently looking for donors or sponsors for the pupils, running expense of the school and infrastructure. We are in dire need of the following and will appreciate any donation given to enhance the running of the school.
