On the 22nd of March 2026, we proudly celebrated a remarkable milestone; our LAI 10th Annual Promotion and Qur’anic Competition Programme. The atmosphere was vibrant with passion and a genuine spirit of learning, reflecting the dedication and enthusiasm that define our students.

Throughout the year, these students have demonstrated unwavering commitment, sacrificing their time, effort, and resources in the pursuit of Islamic knowledge. Their faces radiated fulfilment and deep gratitude for the countless blessings of Allah upon their lives.

A particularly inspiring highlight of the programme is our annual Ramadan Qur’anic Competition. Students challenged themselves to complete the recitation of the Noble Qur’an; some once, others twice and thrice, and a few achieving the extraordinary feat of completing it up to five times. This remarkable accomplishment stands as a testament to their discipline, perseverance, and devotion.

This achievement reflects LAI’s steadfast commitment to delivering a high-quality system of Islamic education and nurturing a knowledgeable and spiritually grounded Muslim community in Sierra Leone.

Alḥamdulillāh, we thank Allāh for His infinite mercy and blessings upon us all.

We have successfully completed a two-day workshop on Ṣalāh (Prayer) — a truly enlightening and inspiring experience.

Day 1 was filled with energy and light as our noble facilitators beautifully explained Ṭahārah (Purification). The lessons were well delivered, participation was outstanding, and the practical scenarios made the learning both engaging and impactful.

Day 2 focused on the Fiqh (Jurisprudence) of Prayer, where facilitators gave detailed explanations of essential concepts. The atmosphere was vibrant with enthusiasm as participants corrected common mistakes, learned new insights, and shared personal experiences.

This workshop reminded us of the pressing need for authentic Islamic learning centres like Learn About Islam (LAI) in Sierra Leone — and the importance of organizing similar programs across the country. Many Muslims practice their religion sincerely but without deep understanding, and initiatives like this bridge that gap beautifully.

This is indeed a remarkable achievement for Learn About Islam (LAI). We thank Allāh for His continuous guidance and mercy, and we appreciate all the dedicated students who worked tirelessly to make this workshop a success.

LAI First Semester Examinations – Beginners Year 1 (2024/2025 Academic Year)

Alhamdulillah, we have successfully concluded the First Semester Examinations, in which our students were tested in Qirā’ah (Reading – both oral and practical) and Kitābah (Arabic Writing). This was not just an exam; it was a milestone, marking the foundation of their ability to read and write Arabic independently.

In just six months, by the mercy of Allah, our students have achieved remarkable progress and built the confidence to engage with the Arabic language in meaningful ways. This is a great beginning to their journey of knowledge and faith.

As we now look forward to the Second Semester, we are excited to move deeper. Students will embark on the study of Tajwīd, accompanied by a complete analysis of Juz ‘Amma, along with the beautiful lessons from Sūrah Ṭāhā, Sūrah Maryam, and selected portions of Sūrat al-Baqarah and Āl ‘Imrān.

This next phase will not only refine their recitation but also enrich their understanding of the Qur’an; bringing them closer to Allah’s words and strengthening their identity as students of knowledge.

To all our students: be proud of how far you have come in just one semester, and let this motivate you to strive even harder in the next. The journey of knowledge is long, but every step takes you closer to excellence, and every effort brings reward both in this world and the hereafter.
