To end Ebola, diaspora focus presented the 'Ebola Survivors Retreat Project' to the leaders of the house of Parliament and members of the parliamentary sub committee on ebola. The Director of Diaspora Focus: Emmanuel J.M. Stafford introduced members of his team, followed by Hon. Claude Kamanda (Chief Whip) who introduced the members of Parliament including the Clerk of Parliament. Mr Alex Bangura of diaspora focus informed the house that the project is geared towards inviting Ebola survivors to a 90 days (3 months) retreat, instead of allowing them to be roaming d streets of Sierra Leone with d potential threats of infecting others (especially their spouses). The British trained Project specialist Alusine Macfoy, highlited the importance of the project to the survivors and the country in general. Survivors will be provided with three meals a day, basic social aminities and they will also benefit from , skills training, counseling , regular medical checkups, start-up-kits, etc.
Prior to the above, Diaspora Focus presented meritorious 'Humanitarian awards' to the leaders of Parliament for their holistic contribution in d fight against Ebola. In presenting the citation to the award, the young energetic Director of Diaspora Focus Emmanuel J.M.Stafford highlighted the leadership role played by the leaders of Parliament, ' Mr speaker, Members of Parliament, in presenting this award, I want to congratulate you for the exceptional leadership role played in the fight against ebola' opined Mr. Stafford. The awards were presented by Isha Marigo, coordinator of Diaspora Focus Banjul, the Gambia. The speaker of Parliament, Deputy speaker, Majority Leader, Minority leader, Chief Whip, their deputies and members of the Ebola committee participated in the session. Hon. Bernadette Lahai, lamented on the plight of the survivors and call on all to support. In his closing remarks, the chairman for the session Hon. Fofanah (deputy Leader), congratulated Diaspora Focus and encouraged all to follow the good example. Meanwhile, diaspora focus will leave for Kenema and Kailahun on Friday, where awards will also be presented to medics, traditional rulers, proactive youth leaders and others that have been so helpful in this difficult period
