Celebrating Academic Excellence: Mock Certificate Ceremony 2026
On Thursday, April 23rd, the Lebanese International School community came together on the school grounds to celebrate the hard work and achievements of its students. The ceremony began at 11:00 A.M. with the Lebanese and Sierra Leonean National Anthems, setting a proud and respectful tone for the occasion. Guests were then welcomed by Shada Tahini, whose opening remarks warmly greeted students, parents, staff, and distinguished attendees.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. Samih Hashim, officially opened the ceremony with an inspiring address that emphasized the value of dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence.
One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the presentation of Mock IGCSE ‘O’, ‘AS’, ‘A’ Level, and KG3 certificates. The certificates were presented by:
• Mr. Samih Hashim, Chairman of the Board of Governors.
• Mr. Faisal Basma, Chairman of the Academic Committee.
• Mr. Emad Khoury, Chairman of the Sports and Social Committee.
• Mr Ali Ahmad, Principal.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt Votes of Thanks delivered in both Arabic and English by Houda Bittar and Christopher Koussa. Guests then enjoyed refreshments as the school community reflected on a memorable morning dedicated to celebrating the achievements and promising futures of its students.

A Day Well Spent.
LIS Parents' Association, staff and students prepared for a visit to the deaf school. It was a soul-stirring experience seeing pure excitement and gratitude on the children’s faces as they shared things with them. This brought mutual happiness, for small acts of kindness truly make a big impact.
The excitement of the kermesse at LIS,the cheers of the crowd,and the bright colors of the decoration, All aided to a great and successful event.

Celebrating 50 Years of Dedication of our Chairman Mr Samih Hashim.
The program opened on a solemn and respectful note with the national anthems of Sierra Leone and Lebanon, setting the tone for a meaningful celebration. This was followed by a warm welcome address from the Principal, Mr. Ali Ahmad, who officially opened the event and introduced the screening of two short video tributes highlighting the achievements of the Chairman in the school .
The program was chaired by Mr. Emad Khoury, Chairman of the Social and Sports Committee, who guided proceedings throughout the morning. Statements of appreciation were delivered on behalf of various groups within the school community. The Principal spoke on behalf of the Arabic staff, while the Director of Studies, Mr. Alfred Jongopie, represented the non-Arabic staff. Students shared their reflections through Nour and Wilma, and parents were represented by Ms. Amal Watfa. A special address was delivered by His Excellency the Lebanese Ambassador, Dr. Farah Farah.
Tributes on behalf of the Board of Governors were presented by Mr. Elie Abdel Nour, Haj Hussein Bazzi, Mr. Ali Basma, Mr. Emad Khoury in his capacity as Chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. Samir Hassanyeh, and Mr. Faisal Basma, Chairman of the Academic Committee.
The Board members, together with His Excellency Dr. Farah, then presented the Chairman with a Certificate of Merit, a Medal of Honour, and a Shield in recognition of his 50 years of service. The Chairman offered a brief but heartfelt closing statement, after which the celebration continued with the cutting of the cake and a reception.
The event concluded with the unveiling of the Administrative Building, now officially named *Samih Hashim Hall*, marking a lasting tribute to a legacy that has shaped generations and strengthened the school community.
Inter-House Sports Meeting 2026.

The final day of the Inter-House Sports Meeting was held on Friday, 30th January on the school grounds and brought together students, staff, parents and invited guests for a lively and memorable day. Activities began at 9:00 a.m. at the basketball court with the Lebanese and Sierra Leone national anthems, setting a respectful and proud tone for the event. This was followed by a short and meaningful opening address from the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. Samih Hashim. The ceremonial torch was then lit by the Principal, Mr. Ali Ahmad, together with the Chairman of the Sports Committee, Mr. Emad Khoury.The Chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh, and the Chairman of the Academic Committee, Mr. Faisal Basma were also present.
Throughout the day, students competed with great energy and teamwork across 24 events, from fun activities like balloon popping to the always-exciting Tug of War. After a closely contested competition, Red House secured first place with 729 points, followed by Blue House with 637 points, White House with 627 points, and Green House with 619 points. Trophies, medals, and certificates were awarded to deserving participants, bringing the program to a joyful close. Adding extra excitement to the day was a special 30-metre relay race featuring parents and teachers, which truly delighted the crowd and added a warm, community spirit to the celebration.
