LIMKOKWING HIKING EXPERIENCE 2026: WELLNESS, CONNECTION, DISCOVERY
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) hosted an exhilarating hiking event to the scenic Mambo Waterfall, kicking off bright and early at 7:00 AM. Organized through a dynamic collaboration between the Student Services Department and the Marketing Department, the excursion successfully brought together a vibrant crowd of students and faculty members. The journey challenged participants with rugged, winding uphill dirt paths, offering stunning, expansive views of the local hillsides and communities along the way.
Despite the demanding and steep terrain, the energy remained high as hikers shared laughs, motivated one another, and proudly rocked their custom event t-shirts. The ultimate reward awaited the team at the hiking destination, where the breathtaking waterfall provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. Students and staff fully immersed themselves in the experience, cooling off, swimming, and bonding under the refreshing natural cascades. It was truly an unforgettable day focused on promoting physical wellness, forging deeper campus connections, and discovering the natural beauty of Sierra Leone.

Legendary Playwright Charlie Haffner Engages Students on the Historical Consciousness of Drama in Civic Education.
Our Faculty of Communication, Media, and Broadcasting recently had the privilege of hosting a guest lecture by Charlie Haffner — renowned playwright, oral historian, cultural advocate, and founder of the Freetown Players.
Haffner used his four decades of global experience to illustrate that history is a living bridge, connecting our individual identities to a collective national sense of belonging. He urged students to move beyond memorizing facts, using history instead as a tool for critical thinking and independent inquiry to better understand the world around them.
The heart of the discussion focused on the vital link between historical awareness and civic responsibility. Haffner challenged the audience to reflect on their commitment to democratic life, questioning if we truly understand the weight of our national symbols like the anthem and the pledge. He emphasized that "embedded patriotism" and empathy are not just feelings, but essential skills for a developing nation. By activating a genuine love for our country through the study of our ancestors and historical figures, he argued that citizens become more engaged in vital social mandates, such as voter registration and system reform.
To close the session, Haffner showcased how drama serves as a powerful engine for social change, citing his thirty-year project, ATUNDA AYENDA. Through the blending of music, folklore, and satire, he demonstrated how complex socio-political issues can be simplified and communicated to the public to promote human rights and national pride. His final call to action was clear: civic education must become a core fundamental subject in our schools. The lecture ended with a vibrant Q&A and a heartfelt a ca****la performance, leaving our students inspired to not only study Sierra Leone’s history but to actively participate in its future.

Create, Don’t Just Consume: Mastering the Modern Brand with Ms. Aisha Kamara
Our Faculty of Design Innovation & Faculty Of Information & Communication Technology, recently had the honor of hosting the powerhouse Ms. Aisha Kamara Actress, Filmmaker, and Agripreneur for a guest lecture that redefined what it means to build a modern brand. Introduced by our very own Mr. Ibrahim Koroma and Mr. Osman Bah, Ms. Kamara shared her journey from the AMVCA red carpet to the responsibility of running a successful poultry business. Her message was clear: Don't just consume content, create it.
The EEI Framework for Success
Ms. Kamara challenged students from the Faculty of Design & Innovation and the Faculty of ICT to master the three pillars of content curation:
Education: Teach your audience and create demand.
Entertainment: Capture attention through laughter and amusement.
Inspiration: Share relatable real-life lessons.
Turning Your Phone into a Power Tool
"The world’s top influencers don’t have two heads," she noted. "They have willpower and consistency." She urged everyone to stop "meaningless scrolling" and start using their smartphones to document their craft. Whether you are coding a new app or designing a brand identity, your process is your content.
The 3-Step Content Formula
To win on social media, she recommends every post follows this structure:
The Hook: Grab attention immediately.
The Body: Deliver value and tell your story.
Call to Action: Tell your audience what to do next.
She also explained that building a brand is about Trust, Visibility, and Sales, It won’t always be easy, and your first posts might not go viral but resilience is the key. The future isn't for the quiet; it’s for those brave enough to be seen.

Mapping the Internet: Mastering BGP with Afcom’s Mohamed Kamara
Our Faculty of Information Communication & Technology
Recently had the honour of hosting Our latest Guest Lecture on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) which happened to be a remarkable success, bringing together aspiring tech leaders and industry veterans to explore the complex architecture that powers the global internet.
Guest speaker Mr. Mohamed Kamara, Head of ISP Commercial & Sales Operations at Afcom SL Limited, took the stage to provide a deep dive into the practical applications of BGP. He expertly explained how BGP functions as the essential "exterior gateway protocol," enabling seamless communication between vast, independent networks. By contrasting BGP with interior protocols like RIP, EIGRP, and OSPF, Mr. Kamara demonstrated how this dynamic routing technology manages the diverse and massive scale of the global web.
The session provided a dynamic platform for our students to engage with real-world networking challenges. The audience participated actively, posing insightful questions that bridged the gap between classroom theory and ISP operations. Mr. Kamara’s detailed responses provided a roadmap for those looking to excel in the telecommunications and networking sectors of Sierra Leone.
A big thank you to our guest speaker, Mr. Mohamed Kamara, for sharing his expertise and industry experience. We also sincerely appreciate the Faculty organizers and the entire Limkokwing community for making this technical session both engaging and truly inspiring.
