For Alhaji Kargbo, the journey to school used to feel like a journey to the end of the world. Carrying not just the weight of his books, but the heavier burden of his disability, he had almost made peace with the idea that the four walls of a classroom were a place he would never truly belong.

“I felt like an outsider before,” Alhaji recalls quietly, his eyes fixed on the distance. The teasing from other children, the lack of accessibility, and the low expectations from previous schools had taken their toll. He was ready to give up on learning altogether, convinced that his future held no place for books or dreams.

That was until he found his way to the gates of Temple of Faith school.

What Alhaji encountered here was not just a school but an enabling environment that would completely transform his life. From his very first day, the physical and emotional barriers he had faced for years began to crumble.

The school administration had ensured the campus was accessible, but for Alhaji, the real change came from the people. His teachers didn't see a student with a disability; they saw a student with potential. They implemented inclusive teaching methods, ensuring he was an active participant in every lesson. They worked with him patiently, building his confidence one correct answer at a time.

“Here, they didn't just focus on what I couldn't do; they focused on what I could do,” Alhaji explains.

The transformation has been remarkable. Academically, Alhaji is now thriving. The boy who once thought of dropping out is now actively participating in class, turning in impressive assignments, and steadily climbing to the top of his class. His teachers describe him as a bright and diligent student who is eager to learn.

But perhaps the most profound change has been social. The same student who once felt isolated is now a familiar and happy face in the schoolyard. The enabling environment at Temple of Faith encouraged integration, and his classmates have embraced him wholeheartedly. He’s no longer just the disabled student; he is Alhaji, the friend, the classmate, and the participant.

Alhaji Kargbo’s story is no longer one of despair. It is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of inclusive education. In the nurturing and accessible environment of Temple of Faith school, a student who was on the verge of giving up has found his confidence, his community, and his love for learning.
