it's a rap! The 3-day regional programming workshop in Togo πΉπ¬ on Youth Employment in the Agro-Sylvo-Pastoral and Fishery Sector in West Africa ended yesterday.
The main objective of the workshop is to prepare action plans dedicated to youth employment in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries sector, over the next 2-3 years and aligned with national and sub-regional strategies and priorities (ECOWAS employability strategy in particular) on youth employment and in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries sector (ASPH). I had the opportunity to be in the Anglophone countries in West Africa to develop a workable youth employment action plan model in the agricultural sector that will see youth have decent sustainable jobs in all 15 West African states. I explained the Green Jobs for Rural Youth Employment Project model in Sierra Leone πΈπ± to them and they hope to replicate it in the future. I hope to share with you my knowledge and experience from the workshop back home. Many thanks to Mr. Bangura, Mr. Harding, and Madam Stefania for this great opportunity. Lord, I'm grateful.

The M&E officer of Cotton Tree Foundation do a field assessment visitation at Safe Heaven Farm of the implementation of the FAO-KOICA Green Jobs for Rural Youth Empowerment Project at the Farm on Wednesday 16th August 2023. The purpose of his visit was to know whether the farm exists or not, and also to assess the implementation of the grant utilization received from FAO-KOICA partners. Overall, he was highly appreciated for the work done so far at the farm and advised to continue with the good work as Sierra Leone needs agribusiness ventures who will tackle food security in years to come.

An on-going training for our smallholder farmers at Makombay Community Koya Chiefdom. Farmers were trained in livestock rearing, health and well-being, veterinary skills and income. Smallholder farmers are our backbone as they contributed to 80%/of food security in Sierra Leone. About 50 farmers were enrolled in the training and were given the opportunity to network with stakeholders and other livestock actors from the government of Sierra Leone. We are happy to share with you on the roles and responsibilities of rural farmers and how this training is helping them to promote livestock sustainability, productivity and income generation.
