UPDATE ON THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION

As a Union that is charged with the mandate and responsibility to man the welfare of students activities on campus, we hereby writes to update the general students body on the road construction on campus.

The work is still on process. However, we want to assure all and sundry that the work will be completed before the reopening of college for classes.

Lastly, we want to thank the administration for collaboratively working with us for the general good of all students.

The standing of a ship in the sea, does not necessarily mean the captain and his men are not working"

In view of the above, the Union has been working assiduously behind the scene, together with the administration in ensuring the maximization of students welfare on campus.

Months ago, the Union has been robustly engaged with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) for the construction of the main road towards the campus. After several appointments with the authorities involved, the Union finally got a headway for the administration to formally dialogue with the state's roads authority, as they are vested with the power to administrate, control, plan, develop and maintain all roads under the SLRA Act of 1992. Formal negotiations were made in a round table of professional discuss with the Chancellor Prof. Paul Kamara

In a bid to bring tangible development from the Union's point of view, the road construction project is now in progress for country and for humanity.

Furthermore, the Union want to allay the fears of the general students body, that the needful is going to be done under this current regime of governance.

The University of Management and Technology now has it own students' bus.

When we drafted the HER LEAD MANIFESTO,!one of its fundamental tenents was the PROVISION OF AFFORDABLE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORT SYSTEM for the students of the University of Management and Technology.It was a daunting task but we tried to make it actionable by writing projects. Today, the STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT-UNIMTECH through the help of the administration has provided the students with a brand new bus under the leadership of president Mariama Jalloh

Much thanks and appreciation to the chancellor *Prof. Paul Kamara, his wife the Pro Chancellor Prof. Abbie Paulla, the VC Prof. Roseline Emeh Uyanga, the DVC Prof. Felixtina Jonsyn Ellis,* the entire administration and Students’Union executive, *the Vice President Ahmad Hassan Dumbuya, Secretary General Mohammed Allie, chief minister Brima Giboa, minister of education, Moses John Kargbo, internal minister of development, Fatu Hassan Fofanah and the entire executive* for the achievement, it was not an easy fight but with collaborative efforts we made it happen.

The SUG has succeeded in reconnecting the campus with electricity fertility inorder to see effective operation of the clerical work.

Two days back, an accident occured at the campus during which the Pole which supplies the campus with energy power was seriously damaged and as a result, the campus was deprived from getting effective light supply.

The students' union Govt. in it endeavor, ensured the restoration of Pole and other necessary connections in seeing that the University continues it works and meeting the needs and wants of the students by means of making the campus conducive.

THE STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY WANT TO THANK THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE GENERAL STUDENTS BODY FOR GRACING THE PUBLIC LECTURE AT THE ABIE PAULA AMPHITHEATRE

"Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy"against this backdrop, the Union want to warmly extend its deepest gratitude by thanking the administration and students who were present to wonderfully grace the occasion. We hold these truths to be self evident, that without your presence and participation nothing would have been formalized.

Yesterday was a thrilling experience and the programme was serene in all the nooks and crannies of the campus. Students' were very constructive and professionally incline in asking their questions; and the Union was well pleased for country and for humanity.

Lastly, we want to tender our utmost thanks and appreciation to the Estate Unit for providing us quality service in an event of that nature. We are great together and let us continue to do the needful and make UNIMTECH a much better place.

This was how is all started, but at the end the outcome was a massive success.

I will be delivering a Public Lecture at the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) on Thursday, 17th June 2021 at 3PM on the topic "Building the Future with Management and Technology for the Prevention of Corruption". It will be open to students, faculty, and interested members of the Public.
