*PRESS RELEASE - POSSO-FBC*

On behalf of the Political Science Society (POSSO), our elegant Vice President, *Madam Josephine Kargbo* , today (24th March, 2023), witnessed the Book Launch of Mr. Majed Halawi, titled *ECHOES OF EMPIRE* which was held at the Tunde Cole Building - FBC.

The Book Launch was presented by the Ministry of Education, Students' Union Government (SUG-FBC) and the Political Science Society was duly invited of which it honoured by sending our Honourable Vice president, *Miss. Josephine Kargbo* .

*Echoes Of Empire* is a book that gives an account of historical events that occurred in Sierra Leone from 1786 to 1980. In his presentation, Mr. Halawi briefly spoke on what is in the book starting from slavery, how the blacks were repatriated back to Sierra Leone from England, the founding of the Freetown colony, Declaration of the protectorate among others.

At the end of the program, our Honourable Vice President, Miss. Josephine Kargbo, had a chat with the writer, Mr. Majed Halawi after which they both took some pictures together.

We would like to thank our Vice President for representing the entire Political Science Society on behalf of her President, *Mr. Patrick Samura* . While we continue to work and seek the welfare of students, the general membership should also know that we are always there to connect with people, groups and organizations outside the department as this is part of inculcating the department with other parts of society.

*OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF GAMES AND SPORTS*

The Office of the Director of Games and Sports, *Mr. Abu Bakarr Jalloh* , together with his deputy, *Miss. Jabu Tambadu,* today (24th March, 2023), held a meeting with class representatives from different levels (BA and Bsc. Year 1 to Final Year) in the Political Science Department in relation to the forthcoming Inter-class Football Gala that his office is planning to organize.

The meeting was successful as a cross section of class Reps. were present alongside other executive members of *POSSO* . In the meeting, the Director of Games and Sports, *Abu Bakarr Jalloh* , welcomed the class Reps. and enlightened them on the importance of organizing the football gala among students in the department. "This will create unity amongst us," he said. "It is all part of President *Patrick Samura's* goal of inclusivity and oneness among students in the society."

In turn, the class Reps. that were present embraced the director's initiative and gave him their word that they are more than ready to give in their full support and also ensure that their classes partake in the gala competition.

To get everyone onboard, the office of the director of Games and Sports organized the gala for both males and females. Each team from each class will face another team from another class, depending on how the fixtures will be set later on. Meanwhile, the director has assured the class Reps. that there are going to be prizes for the gala and medals and certificates will also be given to certain players like Best Player of the Tournament, Man of the match, Best goalkeeper, Best Captain, Best coach, etc.

As the meeting ended, Mr. Abu Bakarr Jalloh, encouraged each class Rep. to go and pass on the information to their respective classes. "Go and get your classes informed about the initiative of my office and tell them to get prepared for the competition because I am planning to make it in a grand style that will even draw the attention of other departments." He concluded.

The director also stated that he will try to reach out to the few other class Reps. that were not present during the meeting to keep them updated about his plans. We are encouraging all students, especially the class Reps. to work along with the director of Games and Sports and his deputy, Miss. Tambadu to make this happen.

TUTORIALS TUTORIALS TUTORIALS

Upon popular requests from the general student body of the Political Science Society (POSSO-FBC), the Office of The Director of Tutorials , Ishmeal Nathaniel Koroma, has decided to conduct another MASS TUTORIAL on Saturday (25th March, 2023) for the benefit of all students from BA and Bsc. Political Science Year 1 to Final Year.

This is part of the Director of Tutorials' plan to prepare students for the forthcoming First Semester Examinations. Mr. Ishmeal Nathaniel Koroma has assembled a group of vigilant tutors who will handle certain modules that students may find difficult to understand, and they will also answer some guide and past question papers as well.

On that note, we are encouraging all students to be present on Campus tomorrow as the time scheduled for the tutorial for each level is summarized below:

Year 1 : 10:00am - 1:00 pm

Year 2 : 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Year 3 (General): 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Year 3 (Honours 1) and Final Year: 2:00pm - 4:30pm

As we continue to serve the general student body of POSSO, the leadership of Patrick Samura will thrive very hard to see that the education-related issues of each student are met.

POSSO-FBC PRESS RELEASE

This is to inform the general student body of the Political Science Society (POSSO-FBC) that the Mass Tutorials, which was held on the 18th March, 2023, came out to be a success through the effort of the Director of Tutorials, Ishmeal Nathaniel Koroma.

The tutorial was organized for students in the Political Science Department ranging from Year 1 to Final Year. Students actually came out in huge numbers to answer to the call of the Director of Tutorials, and in return, the director tried his best to see that modules were well dealt with by different outstanding and capable tutors in the likes of Patrick Samura, president of POSSO; Foday Caduga Mansaray, Secretary General of POSSO; Baimba Kamara, Emissary as well as Minister of Political Affairs, Students' Union Government (SUG-FBC); Anointed Frank, Deputy Minister of Education, Students' Union Government (SUG-FBC); Wisdom Bryant and Edward Campbell. The Mass Tutorials which started at 9:30 AM continued until 6:00 PM. The Director of Tutorials didn't rest until he saw that all levels received tutoring on certain tough modules to prepare them for the upcoming First Semester Examinations.

At the end of the tutorials, with a smile on his face, the president of POSSO, Mr. Patrick Samura , shook hands with the Director of Tutorials and commended him for his good work. "I'm really impressed with what you just displayed here today." He said. "Indeed, I have no regrets in entrusting such an office to you. You've made me and the department proud." As he concluded, he also turned around and thanked all other executive members who came to usher in their support to the Director of Tutorials.

We would like to thank all those present and also wish the best to all the students as they will be facing the First Semester Examinations. Like always, the students in the Political Science Department should be rest assured that the leadership of Patrick Samura is to serve the general populace, starting with seeking the welfare of all students. He and his team will always be there for the benefit of everyone.

As we are preparing for the exams, we wish everyone the best. We also encourage students to study and implement what they have been taught during lectures and during the tutorials organized by the Director of Tutorials, Ishmeal Nathaniel Koroma.

Together, under the leadership of Patrick Samura, POSSO will be at the top.

The Office of the Director of Tutorials, *Ishmeal Nathaniel Koroma , has put all things in place for the mass Tutorials tomorrow (18th March, 2023). The Tutorial begins at 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with Year 2 BA and Bsc. Political Science, followed by Year 1 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Year 3 and 4 (both Honours and Generals respectively) will be engaged by the tutors from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM on different modules.

On that note, the president (Patrick Samura ) together with the Director of Tutorials is encouraging all students in the department to be present at the Tutorial as this will be very helpful for the upcoming exams.

We continue to ensure the student body of POSSO that the executive is working tirelessly to see that thier welfare is always sorted out.

The office of the Director wishes to inform the entire studentship of the Political Science Department that Saturday 18 March is a Mass Tutorial day in which all levels B.A and B.S.C (Year 1,2,3,4) in the department will be receiving Tutorial from various Tutors.

As such, I encourage everyone to make themselves available this Saturday because every module and every past questions are going to be answered explain and analysed from different tutors.

Pleased be informed that this Saturday will be the very last tutorial to be conducted and just after the tutorials we shall take pictures and the president will formerly close the semester with a word of encouragement and advise.
