A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO ALHAJI FANDAY TURAY ESQ.

On the occasion of the birthday of Amb. Rtd. Col. Alhaji Fanday Turay Esq., Minister of Transport and Aviation of the Republic of Sierra Leone, his professional journey offers a compelling illustration of how public leadership can evolve across institutions, sectors and levels of governance.
His career spans military service, international diplomacy, legal practice and ministerial responsibility. Parliamentary records describe him as a retired soldier, diplomat and legal practitioner, with experience as a Battalion and Brigade Commander, as well as service within United Nations peacekeeping structures.
His diplomatic chapter placed him at the centre of Sierra Leone's engagement with the multilateral system. He served as Sierra Leone's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
From the barracks to the corridors of the United Nations and subsequently to the national policy arena, his trajectory represents a movement through different institutions of statecraft: military command, multilateral diplomacy and executive governance. Today, at the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, his portfolio encompasses maritime, air and land transportation policy and oversight.
In political and public-policy terms, such a trajectory can be understood as an accumulation of institutional experience moving from security and command structures, to international representation, and ultimately to sectoral governance and public administration.
As he marks another year, we celebrate the documented chapters of his public-service journey and wish him continued wisdom, good health and strength for the responsibilities ahead.
