From research to spin-off: welcome Ceraprint!
GlaCerHub is celebrating its first spin-off company, bringing technology developed at C E I T E C Brno University of Technology closer to practical applications.
What started as the 4Slurries research project has now grown into Ceraprint s.r.o., founded by CEITEC BUT researchers Přemysl Šťastný and Eliška Šiška Virágová from the Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics research group.
🧪 Ceraprint focuses on ceramic materials for light-based 3D printing and supports the complete material-to-part workflow – from slurry development and printability testing to prototype production, debinding, sintering and final sample evaluation.
The journey from 4Slurries to Ceraprint was supported by the academic environment and project partners, including GlaCerHub, JIC and Inveniam.
👏 Congratulations to the Ceraprint team! We look forward to seeing new materials, collaborations and challenges emerging from this exciting step towards ceramic additive manufacturing.

🎯 Three days of strategy, simulation and entrepreneurial thinking – successfully completed!
Our “Business Plan Preparation / Strategic Decision Making, and Entrepreneurial Spirit” training has just come to an end! 🚀
Participants spent three intensive days developing business strategies, setting goals, analysing competitive positioning, exploring financial planning and making strategic decisions through the CAPSIM Capstone 2.0 simulation. 💡📊
Alongside practical exercises and group discussions, the training also brought plenty of teamwork, new connections and fun! 🤝
A big thank you to all participants for their active engagement and to Dr. Erik Kubička for sharing his knowledge and experience. 👏

🚀 Day 1 Recap | Business Plan Preparation & Strategic Decision-Making
We successfully kicked off our Entrepreneurial Training at the FunGlass Centre in Trenčín, bringing together researchers, PhD students and professionals eager to develop their entrepreneurial and strategic skills. 💡
The first day, led by Dr. Erik Kubička, focused on the foundations of organizational strategy and research commercialisation. Participants explored how strategic decisions can shape new ventures and technology-driven businesses, while also working through real-world examples of successful start-ups, university spin-offs and technology transfer initiatives.
📊 The programme also introduced the key components of a business plan, with participants beginning to develop their own business plan ideas based on research, technologies or hypothetical innovations.
The day continued with an introduction to the CAPSIM Capstone 2.0 simulation, where participants formed teams, explored the business environment and learned how strategic decisions influence company performance. 🎯📈
A productive first day full of teamwork, new ideas, strategic thinking and entrepreneurial spirit! We’re excited to see how the teams and their business ideas develop during the next days. 🚀

🔬 Bringing science closer to the public!
From 4 to 6 September 2026, GlaCerHub consortium partner JCMM Brno – South Moravian Centre for International Mobility took part in the Festival of Science and Technology 2026 at the Brno Exhibition Centre.
At its stand, JCMM welcomed visitors with a varied programme including:
🧩 puzzles and logical challenges
🎨 creative activities
🔬 a “Mini Science Window”
🎓 career guidance
🌟 counselling and support for gifted students
Through these activities, JCMM helped young people, students, parents and other visitors discover new opportunities in science, education and future careers.
Events like this are an important part of strengthening public engagement with science and inspiring the next generation of researchers and innovators. 👏

🔬 Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics at Sintering 2026
Researchers from the Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics group at C E I T E C Brno University of Technology presented their latest results at Sintering 2026 in Aachen, Germany.

Prof. Karel Maca, Assoc. Prof. Daniel Drdlík and Dr. Daniel Valášek delivered talks covering sintering kinetics, transparent high-entropy garnet ceramics and high-entropy carbides, while PhD student

Tereza Havlíková presented a poster on processing high-entropy garnet ceramics towards optical transparency.
🤝 Her contribution also highlighted an important GlaCerHub dimension: although the conference presentations were entirely delivered by CEITEC BUT researchers, the presented poster resulted from joint research between CEITEC BUT and FunGlass Centre.
The work involved all three GlaCerHub cotutelle PhD students – Tereza Havlíková, Marek Rotter and Erik Ščasnovič – demonstrating how joint doctoral training helps turn Czech–Slovak cooperation into tangible scientific results. 🇨🇿🇸🇰

🎓 Three new PhDs in the Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics Research Group!
Last week was a special milestone for the Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics research group at C E I T E C, Brno University of Technology, as three doctoral candidates successfully defended their PhD theses:
👏 Ilya Sokolov
👏 Daniel Valášek
👏 Lucie Mařáková

Throughout their doctoral studies, all three contributed to the group’s research on advanced multifunctional ceramics and to the collaborative research environment developed within the GlaCerHub project.
Their PhD journeys also included peer-reviewed publications, presentations at international conferences, and research stays or internships at partner institutions — helping them gain new scientific perspectives and strengthen international collaboration. 🌍🔬
We warmly congratulate Ilya, Daniel, and Lucie on this important achievement and wish them every success in the next stages of their scientific careers!

Scientific Seminar at FunGlass: Structural and Compositional Disorder as Design Tools 🔬
On 14 August 2026, FunGlass Centre at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín hosted a scientific seminar by Prof. Emanuel Ionescu (TU Wien), supported by the GlaCerHub project and also available as an online webinar.
Prof. Ionescu presented how structural and compositional disorder can be deliberately engineered to develop next-generation inorganic materials, including advanced polymer-derived ceramics and compositionally complex ceramics with improved thermal stability, mechanical performance, sensing capabilities, and potential for circular materials design.

🌍 GlaCerHub research reaches the global photonics community! ✨
Prof. Karel Maca from C E I T E C Brno University of Technology represented the GlaCerHub consortium with an invited lecture at INTERPHOTONICS 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. 🇹🇭
🔬 His presentation showcased the latest advances in transparent polycrystalline ceramics doped with rare earth elements and transition metals, highlighting their enormous potential for photonics and optical applications.
🤝 The research is the result of close collaboration between CEITEC BUT and FunGlass Centre, demonstrating the strength of international partnerships within GlaCerHub. The lecture also promoted the project's Research Domain 1, focused on advanced ceramic and glass-ceramic processing.
🌐 Beyond sharing cutting-edge science, the event strengthened GlaCerHub's international visibility and opened new opportunities for collaboration between the photonics and advanced ceramics communities.
