Ever since McDonalds took root in Europe in the early eighties, hamburgers have been synonymous with unhealthy living. No more; or at least not necessarily, claims Le Beef Burgers at Fresh Market on Tomasikova.

Trading from a very shiny black snack van on the market car park, Le Beef claim all their burgers are made from 100% Slovak beef and the very finest fresh vegetables grown only on local farms.

The burgers come in five varieties: Le Double(6e) is essentially the same but twice the size of the imaginatively entitled Le Beef Burger (5e). Both come with a selection of all the garnishings you’d expect : bacon, cheese, and assorted tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup and mayonnaise. The Cereal Burger (5e) is curiously also indistinguishable in content from Le beef Burger and the mini burger is, unsurprisingly, a smaller version of all the above.

If it’s a novelty snack you’re after then you could do worse, the burgers taste wholesome and are big enough to satisfy your in between meal munchies. What does stick in the throat however is the price. Why spend 6e to eat burgers off a paper plate in a car park when you could get a table for the same price elsewhere and get chips too.

So, if you have the time and the money for a detour to Fresh Market then I would recommend Le Beef Burger but if you’re after value for money look elsewhere.
