Konferenciu organizovali PF UPJŠ a Slovenská chemická spoločnosť.

Members of our team participated in the 6th year of the international conference NFA 2022 - Nanomaterials Fundamentals and Applications, which was held directly under the High Tatras at Štrbské pleso. Ten scientists from LAM had the opportunity to present the latest discoveries in their research and share their knowledge with many other participants from Slovakia and abroad. In addition to a lot of interesting information from the conference program, thanks to the beautiful weather, we also managed to soak up the mountain atmosphere on a team hike to the mountain lake.
The conference was organized by PF UPJŠ and the Slovenská chemická spoločnosť. Thank you for the opportunity to participate and we look forward to further meetings together! You can find more information about the conference at this link:

On the last day of September, we took part in the Europe-wide public outreach event European Researchers' Night 2022 in Bratislava's Stara tržnica. The main goal is to stimulate interest in science among general public, particularly elementary and high school students, popularize science and point out the importance of critical thinking. At our stand, visitors could step into the remarkable world of nanomaterials - particles smaller than bacteria and viruses. They learned how the nanomaterials are prepared, how their properties can be designed and controlled, what are the possibilities of their use in everyday life, and what the work in our laboratories looks like. You can learn more about the event here:

A Day in the Life of a Scientist:
this year the program of the CHeMoUK summer school included a „Day in the life of a scientist”, providing students with an opportunity to experience research work in the actual scientific laboratory. Dr. Lukáš Petra and Mgr. Ivana Božeková of LAM guided students in preparation and characterization of metal nanoparticles. 👩🔬👨🔬🧪

Researchers from LAM participated in the CHeMoUK summer school for high school students at the Faculty of Natural Sciences during Aug 27 – 31, 2020. LAM designed and sponsored a laboratory excercise, where the students could fabricate a functional solar cell using pigment extracted from blackberries ... and to actually test the solar cell under different light conditions.

We are seeking a motivated student researcher to conduct state-of-the-art research in recently established Laboratory for Advanced Materials at Comenius University (CU) in Bratislava, Slovakia (https://fns.uniba.sk/en/lam) with following PhD dissertation theme:
Characterization of Optical and Electronic Properties of new Materials for Optoelectronics.
The focus of the project is on characterization of optical, electronic and electrical properties of new classes of solid-state crystalline materials and nanomaterials developed in our laboratory for photovoltaics, photocatalysis, optical detectors, smart electronics, and related applications and testing their performance in practical devices. As part of the project student will gain expertise in advanced optical spectroscopy, electron and optical microscopy, electrochemistry and other advanced characterization methods and will learn how to construct and characterize optoelectronic devices. The work will be performed at LAM in close collaboration with members of the team performing theoretical modeling and syntheses of the materials.
Qualification requirements for interested candidates:
• Completed university education (B.S., M.S., or equivalent) in chemistry or related fields
• Experience with spectroscopy characterization methods, such as UVVIS absorption and photoluminescence, vibrational spectroscopy or similar
• Familiarity with transient optical spectroscopy methods, such as transient photoluminescence and or absorption is an advantage, but is not essential
• Familiarity with electrochemistry and methods for characterization of electrical properties of materials is an advantage, but is not essential
• Strong verbal and written skills in English language
