!BRATMUN 2020 CANCELED!
The epidemiological situation in Bratislava is very concerning and therefore epidemiological restrictions have been applied which disable us from organizing Bratmun 2020. We faced the difficult decision of organizing the conference in an online format, but we do not think that an online experience would provide, and sufficiently replace what we are all used to at Bratmun- Intense debates, fun and most importantly engagement within our wonderful community. For that reason we are officially cancelling Bratmun 2020 and we hope to see you at Bratmun 2021. Please follow our social media and our website for any updates or alternative dates for Bratmun 2020.

At the core of the conflict, the Palestinian Hamas faces Israel in a deadly battle for recognition, land and sovereignty. Furthermore, Tensions rise as Israel's continous annexation of the West Bank brings the Arab world to the brinks of conflict. TOPIC 4: Nigerian Civil War
Chairs: Matej Sedlár & Matej Nemčok
Description: On July 6, 1967, the tensions arose in the Delta of Niger. The sudden ethnic separation of Biafra from the federal government of Nigeria, which resulted from the effect of decolonization in the country, was met with immediate force. The committee is to be set in 1967, with the time flow significantly altered. The delegates will face one of the greatest conflicts of decolonization of Africa, with questionable international involvement. The aim of the council is rather complex, consisting of resolving the territorial, ethnic as well as the economic issues of newborn Nigeria, whilst coping with further escalation of the conflict, altogether, to stabilize the situation as a whole and bring peace to West Africa.

TOPIC 3: Combatting drug related violence in Latin America
Chairs: Viktor Racskó & Ema Dudíková
Description: In recent years there has been an increase in drug related violence in Latin American countries. The war on drugs is an international effort to eradicate the supply and demand for illegal substances, ranging from the relatively benign ma*****na to much more dangerous drugs like crack co***ne. The prohibition of these substances is tied to various international treaties which require participants to work together to stop international drug trafficking and limit and even criminalize the possession, use, trade, and distribution of drugs outside of medical and scientific purposes within their own borders.
Allthough the drug war is a noble effort to stop drug trafficking and eradicate the many operational drug cartels, drug related violence is increasing and since 2006 have led to at least 80.000 deaths in Mexico. It is up to the UNODC what strategic measures should be implemented how to aid local governments in the drug wars.

TOPIC 2: Reviewing UN resolution on Safety of Journalists
Chairs: Matúš Molčan & Matej Nižňan
Description: On 29th September 2019, HRC passed HRC Resolution 33/2, also titled The safety of journalists. The resolution strives to ensure greater complementarity between existing UN agencies and mechanisms tasked with ensuring the safety of journalists, which will be a key indicator for measuring Goal 16 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. However, cases of unjust treatment of journalists arise every day not only from more totalitarian regimes but occasionally in so-called free democracies. Therefore it is going to be the intention and goal of this committee to propose more concrete solutions to already existing problems that were acknowledged in the original resolution, with the clear objective to fulfill Goal 16 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

TOPIC 1: New Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint
Chairs: Dominika Kleinová & Rebeka Juhošová
Description: Vaccines are among our most powerful health mechanisms and yet, every fifth child does not receive the vaccinations they need for essential health care. Almost 10 years ago, the Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint was created to increase the capacity of vaccine safety in low and middle-income countries. And while vaccine hesitancy has become one of the most prominent health-related issues in developed countries, globally, the biggest barrier stays lack of access. Moreover, the matter remains current in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and its future developments. BratMUN 2020’s WHO Committee will take a closer look at the ways in which the GVSB could be improved and implemented in countries worldwide.
