On 7th May, our Y8 and Y9 students visited the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant, where they explored the fascinating world of energy production and consumption through an interactive exhibition.
Students began with a short movie showing how different types of energy have been used since the Big Bang, followed by interactive exhibitions about how population growth is connected to increasing energy consumption around the world. We also talked about carbon footprint and the impact different energy sources have on our environment.
They discovered which energy sources different countries rely on and even had the chance to go “inside” a nuclear reactor to learn how nuclear energy is produced. The visit also allowed us to see how radioactive waste is managed and how plant security is maintained.
One of the highlights of the day was stepping into the role of power plant workers through a variety of interactive games and activities.
