As the great outdoor educator Kurt Hahn put it:

“There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for less.”

When challenged to design an event for our school community, our second-year students rose to the occasion. They planned and organized a fantastic cycling adventure from Banská Bystrica to Hronsek and back, taking responsibility for inviting participants, encouraging involvement, and helping create a memorable day for everyone.

Saturday’s ride was filled with smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community. Students, parents, and even a class pet joined the adventure! With the weather on our side, our intrepid cyclists covered more than 25 km of bike paths, travelling both on and off asphalt before finishing the day at the Children’s Day celebration hosted by Bakossova School.

A huge congratulations to our student organizers and everyone who took part in making this inaugural ride such a success.

Dnes sme športovo oslávili najkrajší deň v roku – Deň detí. 🏃‍♀️⚽🏅

Deti si užili dopoludnie plné pohybu, zábavy, súťaží a radosti. S nadšením plnili jednotlivé úlohy, povzbudzovali sa navzájom a za svoju snahu si odniesli nielen sladké prekvapenia, ale aj krásne odmeny.

Detský smiech, iskričky v očiach a úprimná radosť z každého okamihu vytvorili deň, na ktorý budeme ešte dlho spomínať. 💛

Vzdelávanie je pre nás viac než len získavanie vedomostí. Podporujeme deti v tom, aby rástli ako jedinečné osobnosti, verili si a s odvahou rozvíjali svoj potenciál.

☀️ Jedno teplé popoludnie, veľa smiechu, nekonečno hier.

Deti si užili skvelé hry, pohyb na čerstvom vzduchu a nechýbali ani poriadne preliezky, kde si vychutnali každý moment s kamarátmi.

A po všetkej tej zábave?
Samozrejme prišla aj zaslúžená studená odmena 🍦

Takéto dni jednoducho milujeme.

Dnešná Expedícia nás vzala až ku hviezdam. 🌌

Objavovali sme tajomstvá nočnej oblohy, spoznávali súhvezdia a tvorili vlastné hviezdne príbehy plné fantázie. ⭐ Deti sa na chvíľu stali objaviteľmi vesmíru a s nadšením prezentovali svoje originálne súhvezdia.

Na záver si každý vyrobil vlastný „ďalekohľad“ 🔭, ktorý nám pomôže rozpoznávať súhvezdia aj mimo školy.

Dnešok bol plný objavovania, radosti a žiary v detských očiach.

Dnešný deň v knižnici bol plný emócií, príbehov a detskej fantázie. 📚

S druhákmi sme čítali príbeh o Magdalénke, ktorá mala problémy s čítaním, no veľkú oporu našla v terapeutickom psíkovi Vločkovi. Deti sa krásne vcítili do jej pocitov, rozprávali sa o pomoci, odvahe a kamarátstve. 🐾

Na záver sa z nich stali malí spisovatelia a vytvorili si svoje vlastné príbehy. Každý bol originálny a plný fantázie.

Aj takéto chvíle ukazujú, že knihy dokážu spájať, učiť aj prinášať radosť.

Today our school proudly celebrated Vyshyvanka Day — a holiday honoring the rich tradition of the Ukrainian vyshyvanka, the beautifully embroidered shirts that have become a powerful symbol of cultural memory, resilience, and national identity.

Originating from centuries-old folk traditions, vyshyvankas were once believed to carry protective symbols stitched into every pattern. Today, they continue to represent pride, unity, and connection to heritage — especially for Ukrainians around the world. In modern Ukraine, wearing a vyshyvanka is not only a celebration of culture, but also a statement of dignity, strength, and belonging.

Our students came to school wearing traditional embroidery from across Central Europe, showing how folk culture connects all of us beyond borders. Through shared patterns, colors, and craftsmanship, we explored the similarities between our traditions and learned how embroidery has long told the stories of communities, families, and identities.

Students also had the chance to try their hand at embroidery themselves, discovering firsthand the patience, skill, and creativity behind this timeless art form. 🧵

Today reminded us that culture lives not only in museums or history books, but in the traditions we continue to wear, share, and pass on together.
