Urban Expeditio: AI-Powered Education in Action

In our work with rural youth on digital skills, we've observed that the most engaged participants are only sometimes the most tech-savvy.

This insight has shaped our approach in the "Upskill & Reconnect!" project.

Key findings from the pilot testing include:

Digital Literacy & Competence Module

- Focused on essential digital skills, including digital file organisation exercises and privacy settings workshops.

- Participants valued this module's practical, real-world applications, with 96.7% providing positive feedback.

Organisation & Planning Module

- Incorporated interactive activities such as Action Plan Puzzle and Priority Matrix exercises.

- Interest in the training topics was high, with a 93.3% positive response rate.

Cybersecurity Simulations

- Participants took part in cybersecurity simulations and digital footprint audits.

- Trainer effectiveness was rated highly, with 93.3% positive feedback.

Problem-Solving Challenges

- Focused on problem-solving and event-planning exercises.

- Received an overall satisfaction rate of 85.4%.

The pilot took place on 16 November 2024 at Municipality Radlje in Slovenia, bringing together 30 young participants aged 15-19 from rural areas around Radlje ob Dravi.

Before the training, participants completed a digital needs assessment survey and received an overview of the programme's objectives. The day was structured around hands-on activities to promote practical learning.

The response was positive, confirming that the core content and methodology were effective. Some adjustments are required to better address rural youth's needs and geographic isolation, but the enthusiasm shown by participants suggests a promising future for this initiative.

Many expressed interest in mentoring seniors in digital skills, indicating strong potential for intergenerational impact.

We are committed to making 2024 a year of progress in bridging the generational digital divide and empowering our youth to lead the way in digital skills development.

We're happy to announce our partnership and participation in the new Erasmus+ capacity-building project, "Upskill and Reconnect"!

Our mission is to empower young people (aged 15-19) with essential life skills while they mentor seniors (aged 60-70) in navigating the digital world.

Key project activities include:
✅ Developing educational content and a skills matrix for young mentors
✅ Training youth workers to equip young people with mentoring skills
✅ Implementing a mentorship program for youth to guide seniors in digital competencies
✅ Hosting a hackathon for seniors to showcase their newfound digital skills

Through this project, we aim to:
1️⃣ Empower youth with mentoring, teamwork, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
2️⃣ Support seniors in enhancing their digital literacy and adapting to the 21st-century

We're excited to involve six countries, with three youth workers, thirty young volunteers, and thirty seniors participating from each country!
