[08/10/19] Please note: we are now permanently closed and so will not be accepting any new registrations or appointing any new staff. We would like to say thank you to the family and friends who have supported us over the last few years and especially through this sad time of closing. We send good wishes to all our lovely children and wish them well on the next steps of their learning journeys.
Only three days left ever and still we are having fun!! Camping day in full swing! (not many children visible because they are in the tents!)
Working in close cooperation on computer aided design programs!
Our very last Sharing Assembly was as enjoyable as all our others with singing, stories, reading success and art. Thank you everyone for this assembly and all the others! They really expressed the essence of our community: sharing, collaboration, creativity and caring.
Yeah, our first Sharing Assembly in a month or so! We have just been sooo busy. We had some great learning two birthdays, a vacation, singing and a reading certificate. Super sharing, thank you everyone!
Day 4 of our summer residential was another day packed with different activities!
Day three and despite the lack of sunshine, everybody has had a great time! There are so many different activities to do!
Day two was super busy!!! Crazy golf, teepee building, dancing the night away oh and sailing the seven seas! Okay, maybe just one sea! And getting letters from our Mums and Dads...
Day one of our slightly damp Summer residential in Umag, Croatia. Trip down went well, accommodation is great, did some fun activities and they even managed to get outdoors. We wish you a week of fun!
Thank you to the European School Ljubljana for a lovely afternoon on Friday for our school children who will be joining you in September! It was a relaxed and friendly afternoon that will be a great memory through the summer as they get ready to join you in September.
What a wonderful day! Thank you everyone who contributed, attended or even just hoped for good weather for our Slovene picnic on Friday morning! It was a truly lovely morning topped only by the beautiful singing and really thoughtful gifts from our lovely parents! Thank you, one and all from all of us and especially from Katie. A goodbye to remember 💙💚🧡
What a lucky day they chose for their boat trip! Looks a lovely excursion
Last week, Grade 3 & 4 went to a LEGO mind storms workshop. They built some great machines!
Grade 1 to 4 also walked the wire last week. They did a much longer section, all the way from Dolgi Most. Well done!!!
Bears and Zebras joined a small part of the walk around Ljubljana to mark Ljubljana’s liberation in World War Two. About 30,000 people annually follow the path which marks the wire that fenced Ljubljana as an occupied city. It has a great feeling of community and belonging. We also saw baby swans and a turtle!
Sharing Assembly was lovely on Friday... we premiered the Grade 3&4 stop motion film, learnt about modern machines, listened to a story from our preschoolers and learnt about electricity and the Titanic from Grade 1&2.
Such a busy week last week... We also had our famous Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday! Great fun was had by all: funny easter theatre visit, fabulous bonnets, great egg hunt and hilarious games! Thank you to staff for your hard work, parents for your sense of fun and children for enjoying every second!
Grade 3&4 made this stop motion video about a robber being caught on a camping holiday! Watch with the sound on for some surprising sound effects!
Our World Book Day was a great success yesterday! Thank you to all the parents who came in and shared their favourite children's books in such a range of languages!
Lovely Sharing Assembly this morning! Some great information, a human diagram on generating electricity through wind, some very hungry caterpillars and celebrating the passing of an exam by one of our teachers: congratulations!
Inquiry about investigating machines! Grade 3&4 taking apart machines to see how they work...
We had a lovely time at our Sharing Assembly this week. Very impressive control of some audience participation, some great information regarding old machines and a very excited, if belated, birthday boy! Also it was super to give out some action certificates.
... as promised, photos of our goodbye to Maja. She received a signed t shirt, a framed staff photo and some really beautiful (and tear provoking!) cards made by each group. In return she shared ice creams and sweets and much fun was had by all! As well as a few ice cream selfies! Thank you for everything Maja and the very, very best of luck in your new job.
Sharing Assembly was a mighty thing this week. Some seriously impressive presentations on potential and kinetic energy, where energy comes from and chickens, as well as solo signing and dancing and a reading certificate! And of course there was our goodbye to Maja, see next post...
Baking beautiful cakes in the sandbox today! Thanks Zebras, not quite my birthday but I'm always ready to celebrate!
Grade 3&4 are starting work on their inquiry into machines. I thought this would be an inspiring start!
When you finally make use of your engineering degree ✈️😂
A delightful story telling Sharing Assembly was enjoyed by all today. One story written and shared by a Grade3/4 student, a hilarious story retold by Zebra students and a great poem recited by Grade 1/2 students. And of course the wonderful Bears singing Row row row your boat, complete with a crocodile! And a lovely Happy Birthday too!
Grade 3&4 have been inquiring into the world of work these past few weeks. We wanted to say thank you to all the parents who have given their time and expertise and shared their experiences with the children.
So thank you Lilijana, Alicja, Suada, Francois, Stuart, Urška, Robert and Sara.
It made the inquiry come alive for the children and deepened their understanding of the world of work.
Sharing Assembly was jam packed this week with accounts of trips to the Fire Station, Police Station, and train museum, impressive transport designs, a song from Bears and a chemistry experiment! Oh and two belated birthdays! Wow, we are soooo busy!
Bears enjoying the sun last Friday, Koseze.
Sharing Assembly was great this morning. We missed Bears but were really impressed with the description of the process of coffee as a product, the Magic Balloon journeys, by the beautiful signs of Spring and the fire experiment! There was a special mention for Katie as she was rewarded with a medal for her achievements in Slovene during lessons from the children of Grade 3&4 trying out the job of teacher.
And of course a special Happy Birthday to our twins!
School children had a really great visit this morning from one of our Mums who is a Doctor. She talked about her job, showed us a presentation and answered about 300 questions!!
We then learned what to do in case of emergency (if someone's not breathing). We learned how to call 112, what information to give to the operator, how to check the person's breathing, how to give CPR and how to use a defibrillator! It was really hands on and the kids loved it! Thank you so much!
Pust, Pust, Pust!!!
(Also known as Carnival!!!)
How lovely it is to have such wonderful weather! We are loving be able to play in the sandbox already!
Last Thursday was International Mother Language Day and we celebrated this with a theatre performance and some dialogues performed by some of our families that have a different language in their family to English and Slovene. Thank you so much to Anna Ruf, our German teacher, who organised this lovely event.

Grade 1 to 4 had an interesting visit yesterday that gave them some great insights into both of their inquiries! Thank you so much to L's parents!
We agree and enjoyed our play day!
aaastateofplay.com The benefits of free play have been widely studied and found to be integral to a child's development for learning, socializing, and even helping them to cope with dangerous situations.
Sharing Assembly was truly impressive today. Such professional, clear and focused presentations! How many 8 year olds can explain the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the job market with such precision and obvious understanding!
Super work Grade 3&4!!!
Global School Play Day at LIS! We shared about our toys from our youngest members (2 years) to our oldest and then played, played, played...

Grade 3&4 had a photography workshop today. They used our forest as inspiration and took some really great shots! Thank you Bojan!
We had some very exciting news yesterday... Big Cat (Collins Publisher) have chosen Minka's story as 1 of only 2 in our region to go through to the next stage in their international competition for story writing! Well done, Minka! They sent us a bag full of books as a reward too! #BigCatComp Collins Primary
Grade 3&4 had a pottery workshop last week as part of the inquiry into art. They all experienced throwing on the potter's wheel... with some impressive results!
