Short summary:

This dissertation explores the recyclability of NdFeB from electric machines from three perspectives: Product design, process design and policy design. The comprehensive approach provides a design for recycling guideline, simplified pre-processing routes and processing advice, as well as a labelling system which is to be implemented at EU-level.

We invite all Nanoscience and Nanotechnology students to participate in a short survey that is part of a Master's thesis within the Erasmus Mundus GREENANO programme.

The aim of the study is to better understand how students perceive their competencies in:

This doctoral research investigated novel compounds targeting coronaviruses. Using computational methods and laboratory experiments, promising synthetic compounds were identified, and the antiviral potential of immortelle (Helichrysum italicum) was demonstrated, supporting future antiviral drug development.

The work presents development of a portable sensing platform for benzenediols using screen-printed electrodes modified with carbon-supported fuel cell catalysts. By studying the measurement chain using signal processing, the study ensures high-fidelity on-site sensing while enabling system miniaturisation.

In this doctoral thesis, XeF2–MF4 systems were thoroughly investigated from both synthetic and structural perspectives, including the first application of 3D electron diffraction to noble-gas compounds and investigation of their behaviour under high-pressure conditions.

Synthesis, crystal growth and magnetic properties of two-dimensional spin systems.

Short summary:

Low-dimensional magnetic materials are of interest due to quantum phenomena arising from reduced dimensionality. This thesis explores effects of chemical substitution in a square-lattice antiferromagnet, SrCu2(BO3)2, and develops a single-crystal growth approach for rare-earth tantalates, RETa7O19 (e.g. NdTa7O19), a group of triangular-lattice antiferromagnets. Results provide new insight into the interplay between structure, dimensionality, and magnetism in these materials.
