University of Ljubljana Debate Society

Our members represented our society at Belgrade Open. Jerneja and Teja as speakers, Bri and Lovro as adjudicators.
The society is proud.

Maj, David, Jerneja and Teja represented University of Ljubljana at Vienna IV as speakers and Bri as a judge.

We are happy to report that:
- Maj and David broke to open quarters and
- they both placed in top 10 ESL speakers. Maj as 8th and David as 6th.

We also cannot forget that they placed 2nd in the best team name competition.

Bri broke as a judge and was a part of the panel for the finals!

Last month Pia, Valter, Maj, Maša and Laura represented our society at Shanghai International Debate Open. Maj broke to open quarters competing in an open team with Lara.

Odprte prijave na državno debatno prvenstvu v BP formatu!

Vabljeni na Državni turnir v študentskem debatnem formatu British Parliamentary, ki bo potekal 9. maja v prostorih ŠOLT-a (Vojkova cesta 63) v Ljubljani. Prijavnina je 0€. Turnir bo imel tri kroge in finale ter bo potekal v slovenščini. Na turnir so vabljeni tako študenti kot srednješolci.

Organizirata ga ZIP in ŠOLT v sodelovanju z Debatnim društvom Univerze v Ljubljani. Turnir poteka v sklopu projekta Znanje in orodja za aktivno demokracijo mladih, projekt sofinancira Evropska unija.

Last weekend Lea, Julijan, Žiga, Matej and Teja represented our society at the Vienna Novice Cup 2026. We are very happy to say that the whole delegation was very successful!

- Lea and Julijan broke to Gold Finals,
- Matej and Žiga WON Silver Finals,
- Lea was 5th best speaker and Julijan 10th and
- Teja was a part of CAP.

Lea and Julijan also got the award for best team name.

Jerneja, Teja and Maj represented our society at Trinity as speakers and Bri as a judge.
We're happy to report their success! Maj broke in an open team and was 2nd best ESL speaker. Teja and Jerneja also placed in top 5 ESL speakers, with Teja being 5th and Jerneja 4th.
Before the IV, Jerneja, Teja and Bri also competed at Trinity WGM, where Jerneja and Teja reached finals and Bri broke as a judge.

In December some members of our society traveled to Sofia to debate at WUDC. Maj, David, Teja and Bri represented us as speakers and Jerneja as a judge.
Maj and David reached a historical success for our society by breaking open and debating in the octofinals.

The last week before Christmas we hosted Ljubljana Pre-WUDC!!
Six teams (Maj & David, Bri & Lovro, Jerneja & Matej, Lea & Julijan, Lan & Filip and Žiga & Izak) represented us at out home tournament and one of our members (Jakob) also debating in an open team. Four of our members were judging (Lucija, Teja, Matija and Reja).
Many of our members reached great achievements!
- Maj and David WON THE FINALS,
- Maj was 5th best speaker and David 1st,
- Julijan & Lea and Lan & Filip reached novice finals,
- Julijan & Lea WON NOVICE FINALS,
- all of our judges broke and judged outrounds.

On the first Sunday of December Izak and Žiga represented our society at Budapest Novice Cup, where Teja was serving as a part CAP.
They broke to finals and placed in top 10 speakers with Izak being 9th and Žiga 7th.
