"Teaching Psychology for Non-Psychologists in Secondary and Tertiary Education"

The teaching of psychology for non-psychologists in secondary and tertiary education has gained more attention in recent years. At the secondary education level, psychology courses are often offered as electives, providing students with foundational knowledge of human behaviour, cognition, emotion, social perspective. These courses potentially enhance students' critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and social awareness, preparing them for personal and professional challenges. In tertiary education, introductory psychology courses for non-psychologists have become a staple across various disciplines, including business, education, or healthcare, as the knowledge of psychological principles is widely applicable to a range of fields and professions. However, challenges persist in terms of curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, and resource allocation. In both secondary and tertiary settings, students and lecturers may struggle with the depth and complexity of psychological concepts without sufficient foundational support. Furthermore, there is a need for educators to adapt teaching methods to cater to diverse educational goals and integrate modern technology to enhance engagement and comprehension. This growing integration of psychology into non-specialist curricula highlights the importance of effective, accessible, and engaging teaching practices to ensure that students gain meaningful insights from their psychological education.

The journal Pedagogika invites submissions for an English monothematic issue dedicated to exploring innovative and effective approaches to teaching psychology for non-psychologists in secondary and tertiary education. This issue aims to showcase research, case studies, and practical strategies that contribute to the advancement of psychology education.
