New Year has arrived and this means that many people have set themselves a couple resolutions to better their lifestyle.
This post is meant for all the newbies out there, who decided to pay for their first gym membership and start working and growing.
Gym world is a new dimension, when you first encounter it. There are lots of things that you should learn about and better to do it by following an advice of someone, who has been through it.
This are the very first and still very important tips, which you should follow:
1. Determine your goals.
Are you here to loose weight? Do you want to build muscles or is it enough to have an athletic figure? Do you want to work on your agility?
This is a very important thing to do, since your path will differ according to the aspect of your choice.
2. Don't rush.
When you first enter the gym, you will see lots of pumped up, muscular people lifting heavy weights and of course you will want to look like them. The fact, which you should always remember is that slow progress is key to building muscle!Don't rush - be patient.
3. Learn how different machines work.
Dedicate your first workout hours to exploration. Get to know the machines, it will benefit you later.
4. Come with a workout partner.
Sometimes you just want to workout on your own, you want to concentrate on the things, which flow in your mind. Maybe even solve a problem or two (I do it quite often), but at the end of the day, working out with a person, who you know will make it more fun and efficient.
5. Bring water.
Your body should stay hydrated, therefore you should always have a bottle of water or any other kind of workout beverage (I recommend anything with electrolytes - it helps muscles, nerves and organs to work properly)
6. Follow the rules of your gym.
Probably the most important one, so that you won't get yourself kicked out early. You should always wear clean workout uniform, bring indoor shoes and your own towel.
These are the BASICS, which everyone should follow.
(later we will discuss workout routines)
